He's not calling Tech a glorified community college but easy to misinterpret that analogy
Not wanting to argue with you, but I don't understand your take here. It sounds like he is - what are we missing here.
He says "having business school friends are great, but sometimes you need a guy that went to a glorified community college"
Do you think he's referring to the rest of his football teammates going to business school?
He talks about the path that Amendola took, going undrafted and cut by multiple teams.
He's not bashing Tech. He's calling Amendola scrappy. Like someone who went to community college and did it themselves, unlike your average kid who went to business school.
after listening to it again, I disagreeβ¦if he had just said "community college", I could go along with your takeβ¦but he said "glorified community college" and that's more specific and awfully close to what Tech actually is from an acceptance rate perspective. And, he's talking about Danny a few sentences earlier.
The "business school friends" = typical NFL pedigree. Highly rated recruit out of high school, big time school, drafted, etc.
I do agree though, he's calling Danny scrappy and telling the grads to not get hung up on pedigree, which I wholeheartedly agree with.
