Gotta laugh at those who still think academic standards have ANY relevance at all to pro.. uh, I mean, college football today.

Wouldn't be surprised if the average Tech football player probably has a higher SAT score than the average Ag player today, if for no reason other than A&M has been paying more money over the last few years and averaging4+ players while Tech was 3+.

In any event, for 95% of the top tier teams, it's stupid to talk about your academic standards in relation to your football program. It has no bearing, and that ship has sailed, unfortunately.

But Brady did score a 33 on Wunderlich, while Amendola scored a 14..... so there's THAT!

He's not calling Tech a glorified community college but easy to misinterpret that analogy

So what? Texas Tech sucks and it's ok to say it on an Aggie message board.

My brother and I have the working theory that Brady thought Wes Welker, Amendola and Juilan Edelman were all the same person - the reliable white slot receiver.

Could have been Ryan Swope too if not for the concussions.

That's an insult to Blinn College. I used to work for Blinn and recall working with a student at Blinn who was on probation. He came from Texas Tech and made good grades there. He complained that Blinn was more difficult than Texas Tech which is how he ended up on probation at Blinn College very easily after transferring there from Texas Tech.

I went to Temple JC for a couple years before transferring to A&M. I knew a dude there, literally was exactly 2.0 GPA at TJC, just enough to get accepted into tceh (this was many years ago mind you)

Got to Lubbock and made dean's list every semester

Not wanting to argue with you, but I don't understand your take here. It sounds like he is - what are we missing here.

He says "having business school friends are great, but sometimes you need a guy that went to a glorified community college"

Do you think he's referring to the rest of his football teammates going to business school?

He talks about the path that Amendola took, going undrafted and cut by multiple teams.

He's not bashing Tech. He's calling Amendola scrappy. Like someone who went to community college and did it themselves, unlike your average kid who went to business school.

after listening to it again, I disagree…if he had just said "community college", I could go along with your take…but he said "glorified community college" and that's more specific and awfully close to what Tech actually is from an acceptance rate perspective. And, he's talking about Danny a few sentences earlier.

The "business school friends" = typical NFL pedigree. Highly rated recruit out of high school, big time school, drafted, etc.

I do agree though, he's calling Danny scrappy and telling the grads to not get hung up on pedigree, which I wholeheartedly agree with.

That's exactly what I thought. Word for word. In comparison to Michigan? See it. It was hyperbole however. But it's better than some things we've called them, lol.

Pretty harsh on Texas Tech. But what's wrong with community college for kids that can't afford to go to a 4-year institution out of high school? This is just a horrible, privileged take all around by Brady.

Let's not pretend most D1 athletes are smart enough to get into college on their academic accomplishments. I loved the Fab Five, but none of those guys could have graduated from Texas Tech without significant academic assistance.
