I posted a link for the hell of it but haven't read it since I'm in a hurry this morning. The morning show on Sirius XM is claiming their sources have said this is going to happen and those guys are typically right on target with this stuff. $100M buyout and rumored to be paying Ronaldo between $35-$60M salary.

That's been the rumor for a few days now and would not be at all surprised at the move.

I haven't been paying much attention to things the last couple days. The guys in the show mentioned that rumors started swirling Tuesday.

I didn't see Juve as a possibility but I will say that would be a cool landing spot for him.

You know Bale is hoping Ronaldo moves to Juve. With a new coach that means Benzema may not be around either.

I thought Bale was pretty pissed about his playing time... that relationship might be unsalvageable, and they might lose both.

Crazy note about CR7's contract demands
Quote:

The Italian club are, according to select reports, keen to sign the 33-year-old forward on a contract that would be four times their current highest wage and nearly half the existing wage bill of their entire squad.

Well with a new coach, Bale may stay if Benzema doesn't get retained. Without Benzema and Ronaldo around, there will be plenty of playing time for Bale, if he doesn't keep getting injured.

Looks like the Ronaldo move to Juve is pretty much a done deal, just need to finalize the transfer fee.

Quote:

Goal can confirm the 33-year-old is close to completing a move to the Serie A side, having already reached an agreement over a four-year contract worth 30 million (26.5m/$35m) per season.

I don't think the annual value of the contract is astronomically more than he currently gets from RM. That's part of the reason why top Premier League, Bayern, Barca and Real Madrid consistently dominate transfer headlines. They have the money to pay for (overpay sometimes) marquee names.

Will be interesting to see who RM goes after now. I guess they'll focus on Mbappe now.

We're going after Neymar. No transfer fee if I remember correctly. One Spanish paper put out a 7 year, 45M-ish salary figure, to which RM made an official announcement denying it.

I think we should move on from Bale anyways due to health issues. Hopefully Asensio will continue to develop in his place.

It's a good time to cut ronaldo loose. Relationship hasn't been that great the last few years with him threatening an exit before (while being investigated for tax evasion). His age is a problem and Zidane had to rest him a lot more last year to keep him fresh.

Ronaldo's made past comments about a move from RM, but this time it seems legit. Juve would be a strange landing spot imho, but it sounds like RM's shooting for Neymar and/or Mbappe. If Bale stays healthy and Asensio/Isco continue to emerge, they'd still have a lethal attack with either one of those signings (assuming Benzema also moves on). I prefer Mbappe, but we shall see...

Eden Hazard is another name that they might go after and I think they should. Imagine Isco, Asensio, and Hazard in the midfield...Asensio wasn't as impressive during the WC but Isco looked great. Asensio is young though and has all the potential in the world.

Yes, Hazard would be a great get. It'd mean they'd have to trim their midfielder group, but I think he'd be worth it. Hopefully they sign him.

Modric, Kroos, Isco, Asensio, Casemiro, Kovacic, Ceballos, etc.

Looks/sounds like it's happening... Agnelli meeting with CR7 in Greece. At least Asensio's staying in Madrid, though.

Spanish press reporting it's closed with an official announcement in the next few hours. #AdiosLeyenda making the rounds on Twitter now.

Also reporting Madrid have sent an envoy to Brazil to go all in on Neymar.

As a RM fan, I'd reeeaaallly like to avoid Neymar, especially after this WC. Dammit. Get Mbappe and Hazard and call it a day.

You may get your wish yet. Yesterday one of the Barca based papers was reporting psg is pursuing coutinho to apppease Neymar. We'll see in the end how much truth there is to it. Barca's Chinese cash infusion via Paulinho also gives them so dry powder to pursue hazard.

Gonna be strange not seeing him next season, but nine great seasons at RM. Let's see if Bale uses the CL Final as a springboard.

Good luck to him. Should be relatively easy to secure a double with Juve winning the last 7 Serie A titles. The real question will be if he can replicate his UCL form on a far less stacked team. If Madrid signs a young superstar, think they'll be better off medium - long term.

I haven't been following this story closely. What gives? Did Ronaldo feel like it was time to move on, or did RM do something to piss him off?

This is a pretty good explainer: https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2018/7/10/17553818/cristiano-ronaldo-juventus-real-madrid-transfer-analysis

It's pretty much win-win-win for all 3 parties involved, except for the part where Juve is shelling out a gajillion dollars for this to happen. And even then, if they win the CL, its more than worth it to them.

This is a fairly good assessment. Ronaldo's whined about wanting out before because of Hacienda going after his tax evasion. He said he didn't feel supported enough by the club. Best for all parties, though we now have to figure out what our character is.
