As for the rest of the team, I thought Morgan was bad, Heath was better than Rapinoe, though not great. Mewis and Lavelle were awesome as usual. Defenders were good minus the one blunder, keeper was shaky.

Press is much better than Rapinoe.

Lloyd is much better than a failing Morgan.

Dunn is our fastest defender and even tho is caught out of position, has to start against France.

Heath is a threat and tireless on the right wing

Rose Lavelle moves better in space with the ball than all our players; she hasn't a muscle or sun tan.

Ertz is our best player but wasn't nearly as effective today

O'Hara makes excellent decisions and controls space.

An embarrassing win today. The box penalties were very marginal. I was very very surprised the second wasn't over turned as it pretty much decided the game.

Seems the whole team has diminished a step. Will need a much much better effort and play to beat France. Not sure who wins, but I'm thinking the game goes to penalty kicks.

LOL...hyperbole much? A win in the knockout stage is never embarrassing. You sound like the typical Euro soccer football snob.

The foul on Heath was clear and definite. There was nothing marginal about it. The second penalty was soft but Lavelle did get fouled.

Spain's game plan was to put us off our game with physicality. The official mostly lost control but gave us the two pks. That the same player could cause two pks in the box and not draw a yellow is a but stunning.

The fact we saw arguably our best players get beat up was telegraphing a game plan to France. We have to be mentally prepared to not cave and can't depend on officials on to call the tough calls against the home team Les Bleues.

Time for some soul searching by Ellis to see if she can put a team on the pitch that can stand up to France. Hopefully our crowd shows up.

I don't know. 2-nil with goals from the run of play is fine. 2 from the penalty spot with one of them being very soft isn't. We really didn't create anything up top outside of that and the same goes for the Sweden match. For all our supposed offensive prowess, we've struggled to create in the last 180 minutes.

I think judging any game off the scoreline is a mistake.

Amen. We dominated possession, passing, shots, etc.

Their fouls were by and large well-executed and highly disruptive... but given that strategy, it's not surprising at all that we ended up with two PKs. I would've preferred seeing the ref toss out some yellows for accumulation of fouls. I'm fairly certain if they had to tone down their fouling, we would've found the back of the net.

GK must have watched the men's GK who made the same dumb mistake - TWICE !

Her right back was wide open for a pass but she chose to pass up the middle - result goal for Spain - could

have knocked them out of the tournament !

I think you have to move Ertz into CB and load the midfield with Horan, Lavelle, and Mewis.

I'm not all in on the Rapinoe sucks bandwagon. I like her toughness and general intelligence but we need to push more of the offense through Heath and Lavelle.

I wouldn't be opposed to starting Lloyd for a couple of reasons...she's a big game player who can drift back into the midfield and I think Morgan is battling some injuries that Spain took advantage of with their physical play.

I think the ref did lose control of that game to an extent that 1 or 2 yellows would have calmed down.

Dunn scares the hell out of me because she gets caught being too narrow in transition too consistently. She has so much skill and brings so much to the table from that perspective, but it is the definition of high risk high reward and I think Ertz back to CB helps with some of that while a more offensive player in her place helps take some of that transition burden off of Dunn.

You mean expanding her brand. She'll be out of work in less than two weeks unless the US wins and goes on another victory lap tour like they did last time beating up minnows of CONCACAF. Then it will be 2-3 months. She'll play a major part of the victory lap games and necessarily take the game-time and roster spot of a developing youngster

It's not like they are burning the flag

Why wouldn't she go to the whitehouse to start a conversation and share what she's been doing? Supposedly she is working with charities, etc on the issues she is passionate about. Not every Joe Schmo garners the president's attention. Or she could not go, whatever.
