Game ends in a 1-1 tie.

Not a terrible result against a top 25 team without our leading scorer.

Despite her low goals-allowed average, I have to think that G is somewhat concerned with our GK's decision making on passing back out of the box. We were lucky we didn't get beat tonight just from those decisions.
I thought Alabama passed very well but they didn't seem to be able to pull the trigger on several shots opportunities.

Alabama absolutely dominated us in the second half. Their posession was great, stringing together many good passes. Fortunately for us they are horrible at finishing.
I thought we played ok in the first half going against the wind, but came out sluggish in 2nd half.
Overtimes were pretty even.

We could learn a lot from how bama possessed the ball, their passing and spacing was nice.
They pressured us on D, especially the second half and it worked well for them. Our girls are so stationary they can just play right on everyone to break up passes because they know we don't move without the ball.

We constantly win the ball - then make a poor pass that gets intercepted .

I was out while the game was played and watched a replay afterwards, without knowing the outcome. The advantage of the replay is you can "rewind" plays to look at those that aren't replayed live.

I have a couple of questions to put before the group:

First, does it seem that the game has gotten rougher with fewer fouls being called? Of course, I see things through maroon glasses, but our ladies were often attacked quite physically causing them to lose the ball. I frankly was surprised that Lopez got the opportunity for the foul kick that tied the game. We had girls down on the field the whole night.

Along that line, we seem to lose vital players every year to injury. For those of you with experience in soccer, is it usual to lose two or three players every season? That appears to be the pace we've been on for the last several years.

Some teams are rougher than others, some refs allow more contact than others. Last night's ref allowed assault in the penalty area so that she wouldn't have to call a PK

I don't think the ref called any fouls on bama in their defensive end in the first half.Taylor went up for a header in the box and got totally pushed aside by a bama player with no foul called. Katie got taken down hard twice when she had the ball with no foul called. Later she made a great save after she went to the back line. which I didn't know she could play. I expect her to be on the back line Sunday because Jimena is just too important on offense to move back there.
I watched the replay of the bama goal. It looked like Shantel was blocked from reaching the ball by 2 bama players and Callyn was at the post, kicked it away and it bounced off Jenna into the goal.
I would start Allie at forward Sunday and move Taylor back to midfield. It was interesting to see where the coaches had people playing last night. It looked like Jenna and Daria were at the attacking midfield spot.
