But it's not like any of that situation came out of nowhere, the players that were "meh" this year have been that way their whole career. If you just look at "We have Watt and a bunch of seniors" then I could see how people that don't know the actual roster thought we should be better. But in reality there were foreseeable holes all over this roster. We needed at least 1 gk better than any of our gks (although that was perhaps not foreseeable), 1 midfielder better than any of our midfielders other than Lopez, and 1 forward better than any of our forwards other than Watt. I'm not saying we needed another Watt, just someone to bridge the gap between Watt and Asdis, someone to bridge the gap between Lopez and McCain or Ziemer (Or if McCain and Ziemer were fused into 1 player with the strengths of each).

Expectations at A&M should be Sweet 16 caliber teams or better. Any year that doesn't occur we are not meeting expectations. Sure some off years are OK, there is enough parody now that we cannot expect to dominate even with multiple injuries or missed recruits. Last year we made the sweet 16 but were not as good of a team as 2 years ago when we bowed out in the 2nd round. This year we are worse than both of those teams. Our results are far from bad, but our quality of play is not as good and it shows against good teams.Overall our trend is not good and looks worse when next year from a roster standpoint should be considered a rebuilding year. If you tempered your expectations this year, what are your plans for next year?

My expectations were that some players would improve and fill the roles we needed filled. Outside Ally and the back line I did not see much improvement from last year. Tera was definitely playing better at the end of this year. Our inability to support a star player like Ally especially when we have another star player in Lopez is disappointing. We have the players to make a run in the NCAA tournament. We cannot give up bad goals, and we need some creativity on offense.

Fair point on overestimating some of the returning players. We did need additions at all three levels of the field and we really didn't get it outside of possibly Ziemer. The coaches have a lot of soul searching to do in the offseason and need to make some tough decisions with the current roster or next year will get ugly unless some of the incoming freshmen are stars.
