Now that I've slept on this I really hate it.

They are Longhorn Networking the Premier League... Meaning less eyes are going to watch and it's not gonna grow the sport in the US
Add to that, Fox dropped the Bundesliga rights this year. They were quite good at putting games on FS1 and FS2. ESPN is putting nearly everything on ESPN+. Sad state of affairs for us. (To be fair, I like the ESPN broadcasts better so far, but as Riley mentioned above, no one is going to accidentally find these games and fall in love anymore.)
At least with ESPN+, there is such a breadth of sports content drawing in eyes that sports fans may stumble upon some stuff. I realize Peacock has other content, but sports fans may not be as likely to peruse it looking for something to fill their weekends (or find something to play in the background when working.)

Plus, the Hulu/ESPN+/Disney+ package may encourage folks to get ESPN+ that might not have otherwise subscribed.

I genuinely have no idea what I'm paying for that bundle. It was supposed to be 12.99 and I get a Disney+ charge to my card every month of around 7 bucks (Hulu is on my wife's card) then the last two months I've been charged $2.18...so yeah.

I don't mind paying for the games, but no rewind or fast forward for live games is so ridiculous. It's like they developed the app 5 years ago and haven't updated it since. You can on replay I think.

There's a really easy workaround to get Peacock on Firestick. It took all of 5 minutes to install with a quick You Tube search.

Bumping / posting because of how annoying this is.

I think Premier League is mis-reading its US fan base a bit (a lot) here. People like the sport but for me and a lot of people I know the timing of games has always been a huge plus (early AM games on weekend where I can watch before kids / house projects). I am not about to start shelling out more $$ for one early AM game a week.

If they won't show my teams....I will continue to watch F1 and eventually will quit caring about soccer similarly how I have lost interest in many other sports over the past few months. Its like sports in general are trying to make themselves extinct...

My problem is that it's a non pausable non rewindable stream. Straight trash to do that.

Total gamechanger now that it's on roku (although I admit that it bugs me not being able to login through a code/link on another device).

All live sports are subsidized by the typical cable package. Unbundling correctly moves costs towards the heavy users...

They have chosen to relegate Man U v Arsenal to peacock. Even though it's a traditional rivalry game being playing at 10:30, one of the prime time slots. On NBCSN they are showing Mecum Auto Auction replays and on NBC they are showing figure skating replays. They are really trying to sabotage all the hard work the NBC production teams have done of the last few years with this stream bull****.

With cable subscriptions continuing to drop its worth remembering that all subs pay for all channels at a sub level even if they never watch. As they see revenue droop they are trying to replace it and cable/sat had a huge numbers of subs that they got some revenue each from. The primary ESPN channel was about $6 per month per sub. The others less than that.

That's the target for the eventual replacement for so-called over the (set) top streaming services. Also remember all corporations are responsible to shareholders for growing operating revenue and profit year over year. That's the backdrop economically.

They have a unique product in EPL broadcasts stateside. Most of us wouldn't fly over regularly to catch games. So this is like out-of-footprint revenue for the conference networks: its accretive to their base revenue. Their goal is to grow it through all the platforms doing the broadcast. And the EPL still believes broadcast/cabsat/over-the-top partners are likely to know their markets better than they would. Or said differently: they don't want to pac-12 or Houston Astro themselves and create a product they simply can't distribute broadly.

They have to put meaningful content on Peacock for all demos they want to draw in as those demos abandon cable/sat. And they need to replace revenue at least fractionally to build revenue inflow to pay back investment.

DC Universe chose the isolate and build original content strategy for the streaming part of their over-the-top network with DC characters and even many of their earlier (cable) and direct-to-video content. They appear to be abandoning and have sought placement via HBO Max and CW (where other DC character series have played sometimes after introducing on a true broadcast network.)

In summary: they have to distribute differently to catch those abandoning cable. All of this is trial abs error until something catches on. Provably HITS launch streaming services, too, so going with solid content CAN work.

But that's NBC's need. Up to the EPL to market their product and make sure it reaches the available abs interested audience. Two pressure points. I'd probably focus on pressuring the EPL...but be aware of the strategic terrain they're in.

Meh. My understanding is you cannot watch NBC Sports Network broadcasts on Peacock. So, you need two subscriptions to keep up. That isn't a replacement, or providing another option for those who do not want to maintain cable. It is an effort to split the product in half so that folks will outlay additional monies to watch the Premier League.

I understand they're a major business always looking to grow revenues, but this, so far, has been a pretty anti-consumer roll out.

This is correct. You need a cable sub to watch simulcast streams on the NBC Sports app. The big broadcasters are doing the exact same thing they did to ruin cable. They refuse to ensure the subscription base stays strong by offering a product that is actually worth the price.

It is interesting to watch NBC shoot it's casual viewer-base in the head. I am a more casual soccer fan than many, but if they keep putting the good games on peacock I will stop watching entirely.

If I have to make more of an effort there are other sports I would rather watch.

Seems foolish.

They said games will be on the USA network or NBC ( in terms of the ones that were on NBCSN

They're available next day I believe.

My biggest issue is that the search/channel function is garbage. You have to search for a team to find their games and there's no way to just easily go to "Premier League".

If you put it on your watchlist, you can watch the replay same day. It's a pain to have to remember to do that, but it's at least something.

The easiest way I've found to find games is to go to the sports tab at the top. Then view all on live/upcoming. It's pretty easy to pick out the premier league games from that view all menu.

They should absolutely shift the games to USA over Peacock. Could be an opportunity to get USA viewed the same as TNT/TBS is for the NBA

I think I've done that with recording games before.

And while you can see games from the live/upcoming scroll you've still got other motocross and random events mixed in. It'd be great to be able to access a grid view of the weekend's games.

100% agreed on the grid of PL games, I'd love to see that.

But if we had that, literally no one ever would even pay attention to the motocross, gymnastics, and windsailing programming that Peacock is making available. NBC has to at least give you the chance to accidentally click on one of those to drive their viewership numbers up.
