They did not originate the clap, other countries were doing it before them. Just many fans saw it for the first time when Iceland did it during the World Cup.

There was a pocket of Iceland fans. Im guessing they were big enough to be heard on TV.

Overall there was probably 1,000 people there. Which is easily 900 more than I expected. Great time, and they seemed to play much more in control.

During the broadcast, Julie Foudy told a cool story about Natasha Anasi who was born in Irving to immigrant parents from Kenya, played for the Dallas Texans, then Duke, and then professionally in Iceland. Married a Icelander and recently become an Icelandic citizen. It looked like she had about a dozen or supporters there but I dont recall if she made it into the match
