If you don't want to watch it all - boys crush the defending Swiss women's pro league champs 6-1.

Just thrashed them. The womens goalie sitting on her ass after the 5th time she gets beat is amazing.

If women's soccer played a game and no one watched it, was the game even played?

So I don't profess to know much about FC Zurich women's team. It was 1-1 at half, and it is preseason, did they sub in a lot of reserves at half?

Neither team looked very good in what I watched.

With a decent goalie, probably a reasonably close match

Wow. How badly does your thread have to suck that it gets moved off the politics board?

So college basketball teams have male practice squad players.

You'd think the pro teams could scrimmage local U15-U18 male teams.

Does anyone know if they do that?

The Houston Dash regularly practice against the youth Dynamo DA club teams. I've witnessed it personally.

It's not like this is a secret. Years ago my son played against a team that included several USWNT players (Lindsay Horan is the name I remember) and it wasn't even close. This was when my son was U14. Great practice for the women given the additional physicality and speed. I do remember the women went hard into every challenge and the boys realized they weren't supposed to hold anything back. Can't imagine there's anyone out there thinking the result would somehow be different.

Exactly. Every year folks discover this sort of practice and trot it out like some type of "gotcha" or commentary on professional women's sports.

Its not a secret but some folks get pretty butt hurt when reminded that top level women's soccer players are on about the same level as elite 14 and 15 year old boys.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

Who are the ones that get upset about this? I've never encountered a single person who is shocked that this difference exists. I can see why someone might think the soccer argument is a little off point if you're using it to ram home some other point about gender differences since it's often not relevant (for example, women in combat), but I've never met anyone who has ever thought mens and womens soccer were equal in terms of the physical attributes of the players. But I don't live in TX and have no clue what you folks argue about.

The only time I ever see it trotted out as an argument is when differences in men's and women's national team pay is discussed. (I don't find it a very convincing argument at all, but that's when I usually see it come up.)

It has something to do with equal pay.

It's an argument that gives me tired head because it goes beyond logic and reasoning.

I think videos like this are also support to keeping transgender athletes out of women's sports. Any argument that "women can play just as well as men" quickly goes out the door when you see the top women athletes in the world losing to 14 year old boys. I don't see it as a bad thing for women's sports, nor should it be used for equal pay. I enjoy women's soccer for what it is, but I don't ever have illusions that Alex Morgan could play for the men's national team.

I think videos like this are a good reminder that we are different, and that is great. Men's and Women's differences should be celebrated, not ridiculed.

Pay should be all about what you bring in as far as revenue. Men's World Cup is much more of a revenue generator than Women's World Cup. It just is, but if US Men want to agree to reduce their revenue share so women are equal then that is great, but should not ever be forced in a court of law.

Absolutely spot on regarding the transgender athletes.
