Is it just me or is this league just pure insanity to watch? I usually watch EPL and a bit of Bundesliga but every once in awhile I'll see Liga MX playing on FS1 and I give it a shot. I can only watch for a little while before I'm exhausted... there is no rhythm to the game, it's just frenetic spurts of someone trying to take on the whole defense by themselves, then a bunch of long balls, then an amazing string of passes that ends with a shot from 30 yards that exits the stadium, a few flops mixed in, followed by a goal from the defense passing it directly to the other team right in front of their own goal. The fans are nuts. The refs are dramatic. The hair is equal parts amazing and absurd. The neck tattoos are a prerequisite for entry.

Idle thoughts as soccer begins again in earnest and I watch my third different league of the day.

Growing up in West Texas in the 1980's as a huge soccer fan, it was difficult to find games on tv. We would have one game and highlight show every Saturday morning for the English League (before the EPL) where we would get one Liverpool-Manchester United-Nottingham Forest-Leeds-West Ham-Everton game each week.

After that the only soccer on television was LigaMX on the Spanish station. So I learned some Spanish and I learned that Mexican soccer is wild ass. Was then and still is. I absolutely loved it back then, but with all the other soccer on now it is more difficult to watch LigaMX.
