It became very disjointed after Smith was subbed out. I'm wondering if Shaw needs to be Smith's primary backup because it's pretty obvious that Williams doesn't play the flowing interchangeable game Smith, Swanson and Rodman plays.jeffk said:

When Zambia went to 10 they went full on bunker. Had they done that from the start, they might have gotten a point today. Just pathetic how bad we are against it.

Remember, 9-10 of the women on this team have never appeared in a match at this level. Then again, they are playing the German club Sunday and I'd be happy to get a draw.

So the Canadians are in hot water over this drone thing. Already had coaches and assistants sent home from the games and there's sources within the org saying there was spying going on during WC qualifying and at the Copa this year.
They didn't just send the coach home, they suspended their head coach for the Olympics. I guess at this point they're in full damage control mode.

It'll be interesting to see if any heads roll other than the women's Olympic team coach. If it's happening on both the men's and women's side and spans multiple coaching regimes, that definitely implies that some higher up administrators were aware and allowed it to persist.

Originally they sent home the assistant coach and the analyst but not the HC. The HC took herself out of the opening match. Now the federation has suspended the HC for entirety of the Olympics.

This is a really good USWNT. They completely dominated the game against a top tier German squad. Rodman, Lavelle, and Smith are too tough for most opposing defenses to handle.
