As I recall in 07, no one was saying the Warriors would beat the Mavs in that series before it started.
Hollinger had an article showing how the Warriors post-trade and post Baron recovery were among the elite teams. Yeah I know, you can make stats show anything, but the point differential formulas do their job pretty well and should at least be taken as a factor.

Sorry, I wasn't talking about Hollinger. I'm pretty sure everyone here and everywhere else was laughing at him until the series started. Cause a healthy 67 win team isn't losing a 7-game series to a 42 win team.

That's all good and well, but I just can't give that much credit to a guy that predicts a team that owns another 3 times in a season will beat the same team in the playoffs.

Hollinger nailed it. He stuck to the stats and predicted it correctly again - Spurs in 6

Yeah, he throws some bells and whistles in for hot streaks but his formula can pretty much be simplified to just point differential. DIFF is more accurate in playoff series than w/l despite the fact that the team with the higher won/loss record has the home court advantage. Dallas actually has the lowest DIFF of any Western Conference playoff team.

He predicts a Jazz/Orlando finals with the Jazz in a close match with the Spurs? Play out the playoffs using nothing but point differential and see what you come up with.
