Both my roommates are HUGE spurs fans and are being cool about it. When you actually have smart fans to chat with it is nice.

I've gained a new respect for Manu and they've gained a lot of respect for Dirk because those two have been so special to watch so far.

The only thing that pisses me off about some Spurs fans is all the freaking Dirk hate. I don't hate Timmy or Manu because they are awesome to watch

The dude is a sure HOFer and has played like a beast for 10 plus years. People love to remember the bad(Golden State/Miami) but never remember the good(06 vs SA, 09 vs Denver, 06 vs PHX and the 50 point game after the Tim Thomas Kiss). For the record vs Miami wasn't his fault. That was Wade channeling MJ(just like he did today)

1. I don't like Dirk for a couple reasons. First, because the dumbest of the dumb Mavs fans idolize him and constantly pimp him out as the best player, like evar. Second, because he is freaking ugly especially when he does that sneer like he's all bad.

2. I almost never talk trash first, especially in real life.

I love Dirk, but he choked plain and simple in that Heat series. Just go back and watch the tape/or look at the box scores.

I don't necessarily hate Dirk. I am always in awe of his game. I think he handles himself off of the court pretty well and is a well spoken guy. I just don't like his in game celebrations. The sticking the tongue out. The displaying the "Mavs" Jersey to the crowd. I remember he threw a fit one time after a loss (i think it was golden state) where he kicked over a chair or water jug or something.

But the things you listed that he should be remembered for really won't be all that important the grand scheme of history.

He may be the best Mav player ever, but he's not better than Duncan let alone a top 5-in-the-history-of-the-league player, both of which I've heard claimed.

Lots of people do hate Duncan in large part because of his "who me" look. I don't like it much myself.

Okay for any true Mav fan the 50 point game after tim thomas blew him a kiss after he hit a 3 will be stuff of legend and same goes for game 7(2006) vs the Spurs when he hit the and one after Manu hit that amazing 3 the play before.

and when I look at the box scores vs Miami I see Dwade going for what will be looked back on as one of the best individual series in playoff history

Ok let me be the first to apologize for the idiot mavs fans who say dirk is better than Duncan or a top 5 player of all time because that is simply idiotic. If dirk had a ring or 2 you could possibly make that argument.

MJ, Duncan, Magic, Bird, Isiah Thomas(granted he is a dick), Shaq, Kobe are all better along with a host of other players.
With that said I think I could make the case for him being top 25 or 30.

Dirk and Ice have a lot in common and I would have them about the same area in rankings.

An argument could be made for Dirk to be on the top 50 list, but remember that Kobe, Bron, Wade, Durant and others were too young for that list as well. I think Durant is already better than Dirk. If you made the top 50 now, a few would get bumped, but Dirk would be borderline 50 at best.

You definitely can't get Dirk top 25. Not a chance in hell.

I would agree with all of that except for Mikan. I'd put Dirk ahead of him. Just because he was the first real big doesn't put him in the top 25 IMO. The guy only played 7 seasons.

Lots of overrated white players in there. Hell Pete only played 10 seasons and by that point was only averaging 13.7 ppg

And for the record, I'd put Dirk in Top 35-40.

Maravich could flat out ball though. I see a lot of him in Manu.

I have no problem with Dirk because he is money, except when people try to say the spurs are huge whiners, I just point to Dirk's scrotum-face whine.

As noted before the list, it was in no order. Barkley is definitely above Dirk in the all time rankings. Does he make top 25? No clue. But he would be rated higher than Dirk.

And I would love to ignore all "professional' basketball before the NBA-ABA merger as irrelevant.

Kinda like MLB has records and the 'modern era' records. I don't think we came into the modern era of basketball until after the merger.
