As noted before the list, it was in no order.

Ah. You threw me off by putting a number in front of them. I suppose that is the order they popped into your mind, rather.

I'm not arguing you're wrong, but why is Barkley better than Nowitzki?

I put the number so I could keep track of 25.

Based on accomplishment:
Both won an MVP
Both made it to the Finals
Chuck: 5x All-NBA First Team, 5x All-NBA Second Team
Dirk: 4x All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Second Team (obviously Dirk has years to play, but I dont see him getting a lot more 1st teams in the future)

So neither really has a leg up there.

Dirk's advantages:
MUCH better shooter/outside player

Chuck's advantages:
MUCH better post game (Chuck did average .541 from the field for his career.)
MUCH better rebounder (do we really need stats here?)
Better defender (could muscle guys inside or go outside and guard - neither player was a great defender.)
MUCH better passer - Chuckles averaged 4 assists/game for his career

I think the stat line is 11 RPG for the Round Mound compared with 8 for Nowitzki.

As far as assists go, Chuck also averaged 2 more turnovers a game. You gave Dirk the credit as a better shooter, but that means he also shoots 88% from the stripe and near 38% from beyond the arc.

Barkley was a better defender, though.

Chuck also did a lot more work as a ball-handler than Dirk did. But there is no doubt that Chuck was much better at passing out of the double-team than Dirk.

Chuck was no slouch at the line, hitting around 75%, but Dirk is among the tops of all-time at ~88%. Dirk is just a brilliant shooter.

But overall, if I had to pick one or the other to build a team around, no question that I pick Chuck. I think Dirk would be an amazing complimentary player, especially around someone like Hakeem or Robinson that could draw inside and kick out. But building a team around Dirk hasn't worked in the half dozen or so forms it has taken. Dirk just isn't that guy.
