I love Sir Charles, but that is all easy for him to say since he never did it himself...

Barkley got closer to winning a title himself than Bron.

Agree that it is kind of odd coming from a guy who never got it done himself as the number one guy.

Too bad we will never know whether Lebron would have pulled it off on his own.

He's exactly right. Lebron is Pippen from now on, that's Wade's team.

"King James" basically just admitted that he can't win a title on his own. By doing so he took himself out of the MJ/Kobe discussion forever.

Hate to say it but no one does it on his own. What did Kobe do without Shaq and Gasol. Score 81 on Toronto?

Umm...when did Kobe win a title on his own? He was the 2nd banana at the time Shaq left, and he couldn't do jack until they got Gasol.

Fair or not, it's about perception though. And the perception is that this is definitely DW's team and Lebron just decided to ride biitch.

Lebron never had a good enough team to win. Tell me ONE nba championship team who has won it with talent comparable with what the Cavs had.

This should be pretty obvious to every fan of NBA history. There are many Hall of Famers who fit this category. LeBron chose to solidify moving his ceiling from Jordan to Dr J. Instead of wasting his prime on a ****ty team like Garnett, he had the choice to join one of the few alpha dogs that he could comfortably defer to. Of course I'm assuming that LeBron recognizes that Wade is the leader of the Heat and will defer.

Clueless.

We're talking about leadership. Kobe was the leader of the past 2 champions. Jordan was the leader of the Bulls. LeBron will not be the leader of the Heat, even he is the best player. Wade will always be the guy with one more ring who knows how to get it done.

Of course I mean he admitted that he can't win a title as an alpha dog. He was basically the best player, GM and coach in Cleveland. This move is essentially him saying I don't want to be the guy anymore, I just want to help somebody else win a title.

I think Lebron will prove his leadership in a different way that just the conventional "alpha dog" type leader. I really think this team will be the first time in a long time when you have two guys who are so on-page with each other that it will redefine sports and how we view superstars. We are witnessing not the greatness of an individual player, we are seeing how the best can become a real team and abolish that stereotype that some are too big to play team ball.

Wow, you must really be a Heat fan.

Next thing you'll hear is that Wade & Lebron are going to save the world like Bill & Ted.

We need a new a Kiss song

"God gave the Miami Heat to you...God gave..."

This is why I wouldnt havent cared if Lebron went to NY of Chicago. You have to be the big dog. He is only 25, he has time to win a championship in another city, its far from over. Looks like he decided to piggy back with the help of others.

LA is aging, Bos is getting older, I think Lebron would have won one someday with Cleveland, or any of those other teams. But now if he wins one it seems like the championship is fake or something. Just weird.

I do know I hate the heat more than any other team now probably.

No, we're witnessing the best player in the league choosing the Fredo path to winning.

You guys spouting all this leadership bull**** are the ones who are clueless.

Who gives a **** who the supposed leader is? That's such a subjective, bull**** term anyway. Who cares?

I don't think Lebron is claiming to be better than Jordan or Kobe. If he does, then you can have a legitimate beef with him.

So now going after championships is bad? Being willing to share top billing is bad?

This isn't the 80s/early 90s where one guy with an average supporting cast wins the thing IMO.

Barkley never won a championship

But it's not because he didn't understand what it takes

He gets it

He just had the misfortune to run into the buzzsaws of Jordan and Olajuwon when he was in his prime with his best teams.

In all reality, Mario Elie is probably the reason Barkley doesn't have a championship right now

Mario Elie was on the 93 Bulls?

Not on the Bulls, but those 93-95 Suns were damn good. Elie's kiss of death is the play that ended that playoff window

Huh?

Lakers starting line-up for large chunk of 80's:
Magic Johnson - Top 5 all-time player
Kareem - NBA all-time leading scorer
James Worthy - 1988 Finals MVP
Byron Scott - Has now coached two teams to Finals (ain't gonna be 3...lol)
A.C. Green - managed to be a virgin his entire NBA career (he should be in the HOF on this alone)

Celtics starting line-up:
Larry Bird - Top 10 all-time player
Kevin McHale
Robert Parish
Dennis Johnson
Danny Ainge

Both of those teams were LOADED. Six of those 10 guys are HOF material.

One team that comes to mind is the '03-'04 Detroit Pistons, and in retrospect, this years Cavs squad probably could beat them in a best of 7 series.

03-04 Pistons were pretty darn good...three all-stars and a terrific perimeter defender

I agree the Pistons were good, but they definitely didn't have a LeBron on that team. But they were made to grind you down defensively...

I have one question though, is there a possibility this Miami squad could potentially end up like the '03-'04 Lakers...possibly egos start getting in the way?

The 94 Rockets team

Lebron had alot more talent around him than Hakeem had his first Championship year

People forget the 03-04 Lakers were OLD...they got hurt a lot...I went to two games in January when malone and shaq were both hurt and kobe got hurt in another (LBJ's first game in L.A.)...Shaq could only play decent after two nights rest during that finals that year too...That was at the peak of Kobe's take-too-many-unnecessary-bad-shots phase too.

Detroit's youth and defense were just too much...they had some LONG defenders with Sheed, Prince, Ben Wallace in his prime, Rip and Chauncey...that team was solid.
