In the Modern NBA, how important is a great post-up player?

In comparison to the guys I listed, no, not at all. All of those guys would absolutely destroy Gasol if they played against each other in their primes. I equate Gasol to Rik Smits or Danny Manning, he's an average but not great post player.

The only post player in the NBA who could possibly compete with any of the guys I listed is Howard and that's only because of his athleticism. Of course since all of those guys were just as athletic and much more skilled, it would still be no competition.

All of those guys could hit jump shots from around 15 feet from the basket with ease. They had excellent post-moves, could play the inside-out game, were good passers, and extremely good defenders.

Anyone who says otherwise is likely too young to have seen any of them play.

Neither Dallas nor Miami have a dominant big man that scores with his back to the basket. Bosh and Dirk are great big men, but neither really play with their back to the basket.
