I don't give a **** about what team he plays for, or really, who he plays with. What I do care about is the fact that James, Wade, and Bosh were making plans 2 frigging years ago to make this happen.

Sure makes those allegations that James was dogging it in the playoffs seem a little more plausible.

There was a time once when you had to beat the best to become the best. Now, since we only declare success as winning rings, we've *******ized the whole damn thing.

Chris Paul would win more games with the Hornets than he would with the Knicks. They won 37 games with CP3 sitting out 37 games.

The Magic and Lakers are not realistic, IMO because of salary cap reasons. (what can those teams give up to make the trade work?)

Disagree... you'd have Paul running Nash's role in D'Antoni's system... with Amare down low. Galinari, Randolph, Azuibuke, Felton, and Toney Douglas round out a great rotation for D'Antoni ball IMO. While they wouldn't be better than the Heat, I think that's a 50-win team in the East and absolutely a better situation for Chris Paul.

except to get paul they have to trade everyone not named amare...and thats still not enough for the hornets, talent wise

Don't the Knicks have a HUGE amount of unused cap space? If so, they could offer the Hornets that + Curry's expiring deal + draft picks and take back Paul and 1 or 2 of the Hornet's albatros contracts which would be a huge win for the Hornets.

Knicks have no picks

2012 pick goes to houston
houston has the right to trade picks with the knicks next year

And the Hornets are not going to do a straight salary dump for their best asset

They will need at least 3-4 good young players orr first round picks to make this deal feasible.

Traded Chandler for Okefor

I don't understand this trade when put in the perspective that NO is trying to dump salary. Similar salaries, but Chandler has only 1 year left while Okefor has 4.

Why do that trade?

trying (stupidly) to appease CP3

To get Paul, they would have to trade pretty much the entire team.

They filled it. Mainly with 1-year salary guys.

As it stands now, the Knicks will have Amare and Raymond Felton on their cap next year. They have team options on Danilo, Anthony Randolph, Toney Douglas and Bill Walker. Wilson Chandler is a RFA.

Knicks have spent all their cap space.

Because they have one of the worst run front offices in the NBA.

After the HUGE debacle of Tyson Chandler for Chris Wilcox and Joe Smith's expiring contracts, they had to do something to show they were committed to CP3. So they made a ridiculously stupid move that they now want to undo.

Onto what Lebron did. I'll equate it to this. You and your buddies go to a gym to play pick-up ball. You get knocked off of the court early. All of a sudden 5 guys who are a ton better show up at the court but you've got next. The team that just lost has a bunch of mediocre to bad players on it. So do you go about picking 2 of the losers, a friend of yours, and 2 of the really good players for the sake of fairness? Of course not you either take your friends, take the good players that just arrived or a mixture of both and go kick some ass. That's what Lebron just did. And that factor alone doesn't make him less of a man for doing so like it doesn't make you less of a man when you do that.

Some of the old farts who had amazing teams need to check themselves a bit. Magic played in LA with Worthy and Kareem... both top 20 players at the time and Jordan had Pippen... easily a top 15 player in his prime if not better. Barkley needs to shut his hole as he left Philly for a better team in the middle of his prime to make a run at it.

no one is saying that these guys would have won without other good players around them - all they are saying is this

No one said they did it by themselves. But they didn't call up 3 of the top players in the NBA, collude to take less money in order to get together on the same team.

the whole lebron, wade, bosh thing just seems like "taking the easy way out"

i can't remember where i read it, but i read something indicating that chris paul's knees have virtually no cartilage left in them.

as a rockets' fan who has dealt with t-mac and yao, i'm not sure how excited i'd be about signing up for another "cross your fingers and hold your breath" superstar.

prima donnas are nothing new...elway, little manning...kids that feel they are 'too good' to waste away on a ****ty team and have leverage always do stuff like this

^the only thing that i can think of would be refusing to try/sabotaging the team and eventually being dead weight on the bench with a large salary.

I would like CP3 in Houston and would like to see it happen, but does he have any desire to go anywhere but Orlando, NY, or LA?

Do you blame them? This is their career... they have usually 12 or so seasons to make a lot of money. How is what they do any different than what you'd do if you were in a place in a career with a terrible management structure and a company going nowhere?

It's not about the money. If it was, Paul wouldn't be saying anything since they are paying him the most they possibly can.

That said, to your question: If I was at a company that had terrible management and was going nowhere, but they guaranteed to pay me over $10Mil per year to play 82 games of basketball, I would lay in a bathtub filled with gold coins and dream of ways to spend my million of millions of dollars. Who cares if it's a ****ty company? You play a game for more money than most people will see in their lifetime. Shut your freakin' trap and enjoy the spoils of your genetic make-up.

Yes... it is about the money. It's about the endorsements, popularity, and publicity you receive from playing on a contender. Sure, Pau Gasol was a max player in Memphis, but he instantly likely at least doubled what he made in endorsements not to mention the notriety he'll receive after his career just from having those 2 rings (and counting). Would he get that in Memphis? No way.

That doesn't even touch on the fact that losing sucks.

So while you would be happy to make your $10 mil a year at the ****ty company, if you knew there was an opportunity to do your exact job, but you might make a little more money and the general morale of you and your co-workers were better, are you telling me you wouldn't want to take it? Give me a break.

The ONLY thing I really think Paul is in the wrong about is... just play out your contract before doing this. As ******y as what Lebron did, at the very least he didn't publicly demand trades and whatnot when he was a Cav.
