Defensive/3point specialist. Could be a glue guy to have around. I'd take him over Sasha any day. Not sure if i would rather him or Raja Bell... probably Barnes because he's 3 years younger.

Matt Barnes is that player you hate unless he plays for your team. Hard-nosed, doesn't back down, tough and can nail 3's. Good pickup for LA.

If Shane Battier was a tattooed thug who everyone who met him wanted to punch in the face....he'd be Matt Barnes.

I'm not meaning that as a diss. As a player, he's a great defensive specialist and will definitely make the Lakers a better team. But personality-wise he seems like a real a-hole thug.

Battier > Barnes and it's not even close

people said the same thing about Artest. ending up being a huge glue factor in winning a championship.

Its a nice pickup for the Lakes. Now they definitely have the bodies to throw at the Heat if they were to match up. Barnes is a tad bit overrated as a 3pt shooter but he does bring toughness and an occasional offensive outburst.

Dude is a spare. He's better than Adam Morrison but nothing more than that.

The GS/Dallas series showed he can be deadly in the right system.

My guess is Phyllis will find a way to make this guy into an assassin. Rich get richer, indeed.

Yeah if I was a professional athlete I'd "host" one too, since golf is fun. I don't think it says much either way about him.

i cant stand matt barnes. artest and barnes have a totally different thug-ish personality it seems.

im a huge rockets fan and if we signed barnes, i would be pissed. it would be hard to root for him.

I agree with what Legend said. I've always hated this guy but now I can't. It's going to be interesting to see what this does to the team chemistry.

It sure looks like the Lakers were determined to increase their 3 pt % and their defense; the additions of Blake, Barnes and Ratliff have certainly done that. This team has gone from a 'pretty' one in 2008 to a junkyard dog in 2010-11.

For a small forward, it isn't terrible. He's more in there for D but he's serviceable from three.
