Enjoy it now. The Lakers got their statement win, then shut it down for 3 games on a road trip, including back to backs with kobe having the flu. going for a 3peat which has generally proven to show quite a letdown for teams doing it in the past. oh, and it's not even the all star break.


They'll be there in June. but it's cute seeing Spurs fans thinking it's 2007. and gonna suck for spurs fans when they get bounced yet again.

if the lakers lose 7 of their last 10 games right before the playoffs, including 20 point blowouts, then color me worried.

I dont think any Spurs fan is burying the Lakers. We just like to see what kind of lame excuse Simple comes on the make. Playing disinterested is one thing.. losing to a team that might be the worst in the history of the NBA is another.

By the way, I remember in 2003 when the Lakers lost to the Spurs. What did Phil say afterward? That you CANT just flip the switch. Basketball teams are different every year and take the season to learn how to win together. But go ahead and continue to keep your hopes up!!

Well, the fact is they haven't won an NBA championship since 2000 in years where they didn't win at least 56 games.

They have to go 18-7 down the stretch to hit 56 wins... sure, it doesn't necessarily predict the playoffs but those are facts.

I hate the Lakers as much as the next guy, but last time I checked, they are still leading their division. I don't think they'll win the title, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

those who watch the Lakers know that Gasol is gassed, Odom looks bored, Artest looks lost but still has flashes of defensive greatness, Bynum looks to be improving daily, and Kobe doesn't have the legs when he feels he needs to win the game for them.

The best part of the Lakers losing. I love coming on here to see what simple and co. have come up with after each loss.

Are the Lakers better than most in the West? Yes. Do they lead their division? Yes. Will they be a top 4 seed? Probably. But this team has not played like a contender since very early this season. If you think it's gonna be another cakewalk to the finals, you're got a big surprise coming to you. Acting like there's nothing to worry about right now is just ******baggery.

I think the problem is that Simplebay doesn't recognize the Spurs for what they are, which is a real threat.

In years that the Spurs are only a good team, the Lakers can pretty much punch their ticket to the finals. Its been that way now for 10 years minus the mid-00's Laker blowup. in years that the Spurs are a GREAT team, the Lakers actually have to earn it. Thus the discussion boils down to whether or not you think the Spurs are championship caliber.

Those who watch the Spurs can see they have the same chemistry and defensive toughness characteristic of their championship years. This year, the discussion doesn't begin AND end only with what the Lakers are capable of.

If he doesn't have the legs anymore or if Jackson doesn't care about this game, why did he still play 39 minutes against the Cavs? Phil doesn't seem to agree with you. If he didn't care about the game or if he was trying to rest Kobe, Phil wouldn't have stuck Kobe out there for those kind of minutes.

The lakers still have time to get their crap together, but there are some serious problems they need to fix. Problems that extend beyond apathy.
