BCG has never stayed anywhere. He has turned around a couple of programs (3 if you count making a U-turn toward mediocrity at UK) but can he sustain a program? He'll recruit well, but to everyone talking about how he'll out recruit everyone, besides Jordan what elite recruit did he bring to A&M? Sloan, Roland, Davis were are good players, but none were elite. How many recruiting battles did he win against KU or tu?

BCG is no doubt a good coach. I wish him luck and look forward to the Aggies beating his tech teams on a regular basis.

BCG will do very well at Tech.

Similarities could also be seen between Eustachy and st. billy's careers.

Comparing the nomadic BCG to a true Ag legend like Shelby is a serious insult . . . .

It just shows you how deep the obsession is that the bcg lovers have. They are worse than women scorned.

Turgeon is a lot more like Shelby than bcg could ever hope to be.

I am getting to the point where I hope bcg (I really just want him to fail like every coach at a rival school) gets another dui just to shut these doofuses up.

BCG came here and won with Melvin's players (Antoine and Acie) and recruits (JJ) then split before the hard work began - building consistency.

BCG gets credit for pointing the car in the right direction and taking the car out of neutral, but it's Turgeon that has driven us to the point where we are in the mix for national talents like Kylie Irving and Jamal Branch. And remember, Turgeon lost his top recruit this year to an awful tragedy that we can only pray will never be repeated (here or anywhere for that matter).

I fully expect Tech to get better but let's all try to remember when that occurs exactly who it is that BCG is replacing.

I hear cocktails are half-price in Lubbock for as long as BCG is head coach. Lubbock is becoming a resting home for worn out and worn down coaches. Cheers to Billy Clyde - hope he crushes 2 tonite!

If Clyde could not recruit at Kentucky how is he going to recruit at Tech? Most of Billy's recruits that he had lined up to go to UK were told no thanks when Cal took over because they were not UK caliber talent.

Can bcg still hire aau coaches to get their recruits? It was legal when he did it here.

That is how he got some of his best recruits, Jordan, Sloan, Roland, Davis.

The others he inherited like Wright, Law, JJ, and Kirk.

He got us Carter and AK, who were very good players.

His recruiting "magic" is overstated.

There is NO WAY (gezzer 64?) that BCG's experience at KY does not follow him. ANY recruit (and parent) will have to look long and hard before being coached by him. He was really doing well here at A&M. He shouldn't have never left.

UK will not effect bCG negatively. Memories are far too short and those kids were barely in high school and most he will be recruiting were in middle school.

If anything, he will have learned quite a bit about what worked at a&m and what didn't at UK. He has also been Spending time up at KU, learning I imagine.

He is going to be ready. He is going to recruit his ass off. And, he is walkig into the perfect situation for his style. Tech will be a thorn again, I hate it, but it will make the league stronger.

I think one of the big problems that people have with Turge, is that BCG GOT us to he point we are now and Turge has yet to take us any farther than Billy did. Maintaining a program is not the same as ADVANCING a program. Billy did, so far, Turge has not.

While we may not want to consider it, Turg has the network, coaching skills, and the training to have NBA aspirations. I wouldn't be shocked if his dream job was the the Bulls, or Rockets, and NOT KU.

Billy's a very good coach and Tech will be an improved program, but I think people tend to remember his actual accomplishments a lot rosier just because he was the first actually competant b-ball coach on campus in YEARS. He got us to where any bball program should be for an athletic department the size of A&M's.

I wish him the best, but he's still gotta recruit at Tech... a closer to bottom tier team in a big conference. In short, he's much closer to your Trent Johnsons and Travis Fords than he is Tom Izzo or Rick Pitino as Aggies tend to remember him as.

I want that bet on the sweet 16 thing. BCG WILL get one at Tech before Mark does here again and I think Mark has done real good job here. Pm me for the amount you want to wager and the particulars.

Memories are short at most schools but definitely not at KY. The years and experiences at the blue grass state WILL stay with him for a while. This was Kentucky, not . . . . (fill in the blank). Kids will youtube and look back, especially coaches and parents. I doubt he recruits like he did at A&M.

He'll be leaving tech in 2 years. He'll either:
-Do really well and start marketing himself for other jobs after his first year.
-Suck and crawl back in his bottle, which Tech will only be able to cover so long.

Per ESPN, only 800 people showed up to his introduction yesterday at the United Spirit arena. Contrast that to Bobby Knight's intro when the place was "nearly full" (at least 10K).

I'm sure he was all smiles and enthusiasm for the cameras, but BCG's search for his next job is already in progress...

No, there were not. While both had a drinking problem BCG was fired largely because of his W/L record. Eddie was forced to resign because of NCAA problems.

So... since Kentucky 'run-off' Sutton for NCAA violations did they 'run-in' Calipari for the exact same thing?

one of my wife's students committed to tech before Pat was fired. I wonder how he feels about it now that BCG is the coach. His name is Toddrick Gotcher...very good kid and good, hardworking player too.
