New Orleans has 42 wins. Their remaining games are:
Portland (loss)
Memphis (loss)
Indiana (win)
Houston (loss)
Phoenix (loss)
Memphis (loss)
Utah (tossup)
Dallas (loss -- win if tanked)
Without David West, they will be underdogs in all but one of those games. Dallas might tank their game against New Orleans, which would be a second win. Utah is also in free fall mode so that might be a win. They will probably end up with 44-45 wins.
It's not like New Orleans was exactly tearing it up WITH David West either. They were 4-8 in February and 7-6 in March WITH him. By contrast, the Rockets were 8-4 in February and 8-4 in March.
The Rockets finish with:
New Jersey (win)
Philly (win)
San Antonio without Tim Duncan at home(tossup)
Atlanta without Joe Johnson at home (win)
Sacramento (win)
New Orleans (win)
Los Angeles Clippers (win)
Dallas (loss)
Minnesota (win)
At 38 wins currently, that still puts the Rockets at 45 wins at the end of the year and 46 while beating San Antonio, who is on a 4 game losing streak.
Unfortunately the Rockets would lose the tiebreaker against New Orelans to my knowledge due to the division records, so we have to have a better record.
