I really don't want to play Memphis in the playoffs, it seems like every game with them is a war with 2-3 injuries. So far Ginobili is down, Hill just got speared and was slow to get up, and Parker tweaked his knee. I really hope the Rockets pass them up.

The Rockets punched their lotto ticket today. Same story, different verse against a good team. Play well for three quarters then fold down the stretch. So disappointing. This team needs a MAJOR overhaul.

Uh this is a game they didn't have to win. Down the stretch, any sane person penciled in a loss here.

Uhhhh, it is a game they had to win when Memphis is beating the Celts and Spurs and New Orl. is beating the Jazz and Suns. Playoff teams are good enough to occasionally beat other playoff teams. The Rockets aren't.

The Rockets are really out of reach at this point. Memphis has an easy enough road that they probably won't even sweat clinching the playoffs.

New Orleans will lose some games, but not enough to fall out of the playoffs. Rockets should start hoping for some great lotto ball luck.

The Rockets need 45 wins to make it and they need to beat new Orleans heads up. We have an easy enough schedule to get to 45 without even beating San Antonio and Dallas. Just have to beat the shrubs on the schedule, Philly, Atlanta (without jj), and new Orleans.

Memphis is sitting at 41 wins right now. They most likely make it to 46 or 47. Going to be tough for the Rockets. They really need someone to just absolutely collapse in the next two weeks. New Orleans would be the likely team to do that because they have three games left against Memphis and Houston but even then it is a stretch.

New Orleans has 42 wins. Their remaining games are:

Portland (loss)
Memphis (loss)
Indiana (win)
Houston (loss)
Phoenix (loss)
Memphis (loss)
Utah (tossup)
Dallas (loss -- win if tanked)

Without David West, they will be underdogs in all but one of those games. Dallas might tank their game against New Orleans, which would be a second win. Utah is also in free fall mode so that might be a win. They will probably end up with 44-45 wins.

It's not like New Orleans was exactly tearing it up WITH David West either. They were 4-8 in February and 7-6 in March WITH him. By contrast, the Rockets were 8-4 in February and 8-4 in March.

The Rockets finish with:
New Jersey (win)
Philly (win)
San Antonio without Tim Duncan at home(tossup)
Atlanta without Joe Johnson at home (win)
Sacramento (win)
New Orleans (win)
Los Angeles Clippers (win)
Dallas (loss)
Minnesota (win)

At 38 wins currently, that still puts the Rockets at 45 wins at the end of the year and 46 while beating San Antonio, who is on a 4 game losing streak.

Unfortunately the Rockets would lose the tiebreaker against New Orelans to my knowledge due to the division records, so we have to have a better record.

I agree that New Orleans schedule is tough, but everything would have to be just about perfect for the Rockets. At this point in the year they have to beat someone they aren't supposed to, like Memphis has been doing.

Also Joe Johnson is expected back this week so the Atlanta game is going to be a bit more difficult.

John Hollinger has had it in for Dallas for years. I instantly feel the need to argue any point he makes.

Please, tiny 8 pound baby Jesus, let Memphis lose to LAC.

It's ridiculous that the Rockets could go 20-5 since the All-star Break, finish 10 games above .500, and still miss the playoffs. I kind of hate the Southwest Division.

If OKC ties with Dallas who gets #3 seed? Dallas has head to head but I think OKC winning division takes precedence? OKC 2 games back and Dallas plays Denver tomorrow (Denver wins easily)

Interesting night so far>
First,
Grizzlies lose to a non-playoff team (Clippers)
then,
Rockets lose to a non-playoff team (Kings)
now,
Blazers losing to a non-playoff team (Warriors).

The fans of the NOH rejoice.

6, 7, 8 up in the air tonight.

Suns at Hornets
Nuggets at Thunder (Just interesting)
Kings at Grizzlies
Lakers at Trailblazers.

I believe the Hornets have the inside track for the 6th seed (i.e. control their own destiny)

And this may be discussed elsewhere, but if the Bulls and Spurs tie, their homecourt advantage (if they should meet in the finals) is determined by a random drawing.
