It's funny - the day the playoffs started, my cousin asked me if any series in the west looked like they were a toss up. I said Thunder-Nuggets.

One week in, and that series is 3-0. The other three are 2-2, 2-2, and 2-1.

Isn't every fan of a pro franchise a "t-shirt fan?" Never understood people having an emotional attachment to a pro sports team.

I'm not a tshirt fan. Dallas is my city and the pro sports teams represent the city/region. When I tell someone that I'm from Dallas I get associated with the pro teams unless I tell them otherwise. I also have to be associated with the 30K Millionaire dbag stereotype.

I grew up here after all the major sports teams arrived so I can't claim another team that way. And my Dad didn't force or encourage me to follow any of his teams from Chicago.

I don't see how I could ever claim another city's team. I was born here, raised here and have settled my family here after moving around for about a decade. I'm not as vested in the same way as I am to A&M, but I do feel a strong tie to my city because of those circumstances. With all the migration that occurs there's probably not many people that can truly claim to be tied to a city's teams that way, but we do exist.

Wonder if any fans have jumped back onto the "scrotum-less" Mavs bandwagon?

Sure, if any other Mavs fans who have been suffering from "battered housewife syndrome" are like me, we're still cautiously optimistic.

Taking a 2-0 home to Dallas against the champs lends itself more to the optimism though.

Wait until Monday when it's 2-2. No Mavs fan that has endured this decade should be comfortable at all

I grew up in DFW, but I've been in Houston for the past 13 years. To this day, I barely even care a nano-bit about any of the Houston teams; I'm diehard Mavs/Cowboys/Rangers all the way.

This raises a dilemma with my children, who have virtually never set foot in the Metroplex. I know when I'm 70, I will feel the same way. But it just makes sense that they would root for the Houston teams...or does it?

Yes, it does. They'll root for the teams their friends root for.

My sister moved to Texas when her kids were still young, especially her youngest daughter, but they are all die-hard Chicago fans in all sports.
