2 more inside misses, one by Gasol and one by Conley. And the Grizz have allowed OKC to extend to a 10 point lead with under a minute left in the half.

Yeah rather frustrating the Grizzlies are missing easy shots and then the Thunder are making ridiculous jump shots with ease.

My god this team is so much better when harden, westbrook and kd are on the floor together. If kd is bottled up russ isn't forced to do it all himself. The drop off in d from sefalosha to harden isn't great enough to warrant thabo getting starters minutes. I don't care that harden comes in as bobby jackson

Good half by OKC. The Grizzlies really faded in the last 5 minutes of that half. Missed a lot of shots, didn't play good D, and quite frankly didn't get any balls bouncing their way in the closing minutes.

Hopefully they can come out and tighten it up after half. It takes a lot of energy to continue to play from behind.

I'm jealous of OKC having Harden. I love his game.

And the Grizzlies miss a wide open jumper and yet another running layup by Conley, then another shot at the rim by Allen. They are just shooting so piss poor.

Game starting to get out of hand. The Grizzlies are playing dead-legged, getting nothing out of Randolph, and missing a ton of shots at the rim and not making jumpers.

Randolph is clearly frustrated, all thanks to nick collison.

Other than blocks and steals what do yall think of the defense? Its not as smothering as I would expect.

Collison has very little to do with it tonight. Randolph is tired and just not working hard...Gasol played as many minutes as Randolph in Game 4 and is busting his ass out there.

The Grizzlies have no hustle and fight tonight and cannot hit anything near the rim. If the score is 18 or 20 point lead by the end of the 3rd, Hollins just needs to sit the starters, write this one off, and prepare for Game 6.

Young teams turn the ball over more frequently. But are they taking charges, are they contesting shots, are they getting to their assignments?

Padz, agree with that. Randolph has put up fine numbers in this series until tonight but even in Game 4 it took him a bunch of shots to get his points. Collison has played him tough as nails.

Game is pretty much over. Grizzlies just don't want to be there tonight. Losing that 3 OT game took a ton out of them I'm afraid and they don't have the home crowd tonight to lift them.

I disagree, you are not allowed to whine about calls this year glad they instituted this rule. Stopping San Antonio from crying and whining after every play.

this is too selectively enforced to defend any single instance.

and the ref blew the freakin call...of course the player is going to be demonstrative

Wasnt it the smart money that the Griz posed a greater threat to the Mavs? They have more height inside and "3pt defending".

Regardless of the situation a player should be composed to keep his emotions in check. Even if the call was blown,
the player should not have reacted as negatively as he did.

What also should have been given a technical was when Westbrook grabbed and hugged the basket last game. That warranted a second T in my opinion.
Pahdz

boy Trevas REALLY hates OKC

the reason the 2nd T wasn't given to Westbrook when he hugged the pad wasn't he didn't stare down the official. i believe the NBA wanted to shut down the "stare down the official after a bad call" syndrome.
Gigem Trevas
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah I agree stopping staring down and trying to intimidate the officials is deserving but he overreacted and exaggerated.
I do not like OKC because I am a Grizzlies fan, and I do not like KD because he went to tu. Grizzlies played awful tonight deserved to lose the game will see how they play with backs against the wall.
Well see what they are truly made of.

had you pegged as a Mavs fan...so sorry
Gigem Trevas

Lol I do not like the Mavs. But if the Grizzlies are eliminated the Mavs are the only Texas basketball team I do not hate.
Can't stand the Spurs and Duncan's whining "me" face

The Rockets are to bad for me to waste my time hating.
I think OKC vs Dallas is a good series, but they still have to get through Memphis. Memphis has shown resolve throughout the playoffs. Hopefully they can prove that they want to be here on Friday and Sunday.

Its a valid comparison. You say players are not responsible for keeping their emotions in check. I argue the opposite and show you an instance where clearly frustration (emotion) was expressed on the court.

Your inability to cope with your crappy premise is not my fault.

Situation A - Normal, every day reaction to bad call; no words are even spoken or threatening gestures made
Situation B - Guy attacks defenseless play, potentially causing severe bodily harm

First, this is not a valid comparison. To equate the two is to be dishonest to the discussion at hand.

Second, I never said players are not responsible for keeping their emotions in check. I said it is unreasonable for them to act like robots and not show any emotion. Maybe we all have different standards for what constitutes "keeping your emotions in check". I did not see anything in Ibaka's reaction that differentiates it from the 900 other times in a basketball game where people have an emotional reaction when a call goes against them, whether the call was right or wrong. My entire issue with the call, and the official rules, is that it is entirely too subjective, and enforced too irregularly, to defend any single instance where a technical is given. How can you defend that call, but yet ignore all of the other instances in the game where a similar reaction is not punished? It's a completely arbitrary rule that is selectively enforced.

These refs are smart. They typically know when they blew a call and when they were right. This was a 50/50 call that the ref had to know there was a possibility he was wrong. I think the correct action would be to not compound the situation by calling a techincal.

I don't have much else to say on this topic, so I don't think it is necessary to continue. But if you do, I would ask you to first answer this question before responding to anything else... What was achieved by awarding a technical foul to Ibaka? Do they expect players to not react to bad calls?
