5 games without pay. I thought he deserved more...

What a POS... should have gotten suspended for two 2012 postseason games on top of the 5 game regular season suspension. Eff you Andrew.

But I can't think of a 5-game suspension for a dirty foul. Most of the 5+ game suspensions are for going in the stands, drugs, fights, threats, guns, shoving refs, etc.

As a Mavericks fan, I think its an appropriate suspension.

I think it's about right. Like Soup said, it's appropriate for the type of infraction.

I thought 10 games was right amount. It wasn't remotely a basketball play. And he's done this several times before. The repeat offender is my biggest problem.

It's the timing that gets me. I can't think of a cheap shot like that occurring during the 4th quarter of an elimination game blowout. If he had done it within the context of the series (like Horry 2007 taking down Nash) then I would have defended it as sending a message to a soft perceived team and supported a 2-3 game suspension just like I defended Horry.

I agree. I think the 5-game was warranted. I'm just saying that it is much longer than most fouls that occur with in game play. Most 5+ game suspensions come from drugs, fights, going into the stands and guns.

I think 5 games was about right. I might have given him 10, but that's clearly the outside and the NBA isn't going to take a player out for too long absent heavy PR. See Malice/Palace.

From watching those plays again, I've learned a few things.

1. The message isn't getting through. Suspend him 10 games.
2. Bynum is getting more effective with his forearm shivers.

At what point does the NBA drop the hammer on him?

I was hoping for 10 games but 5 is definitely better than 2.

I'd hope that if he pulls this classless stunt again that he sits out long enough to forget where the locker room is.

I find it hard to believe the league would go from 2 games to 2 games to 10 games for this.

I can't think of another flagrant 2 that ever resulted in a 5 game suspension. And there are some guys with more history than Bynum. Artest once had 9 flagrants in a year and 12 in two years.

5 is enough. No more, no less.

If he's suspended without pay it's over 100K in addition to the fine.

first one should be 2
second one should have been 4
third one should have been 12
fourth one should be for 48
fifth one and you would be too old to return to the game.

keep multiplying by whatever number occurrence for the same completely irresponsible foul this is until the ******* figures out that you can't foul like that.

Two years of no recurring instances of this bad behavior drops the multiplier by one.

SHIRLEY the Spurs fans cannot be favoring half the season suspension for this action. they must know better. only mavs fans could favor a pussifying the league this much.

it was a bush league play. 5 games seems about right, without pay (nearly 1MM forfeit). half the effing season? are you kidding me.


charles oakley would not enough be allowed in the nba apparently nowadays for his actions on the court. artest/jackson were given their suspensions for going after fans.

It may have been more if he had broken his ribs or something. But to my knowledge, this is the longest suspension ever for a flagrant foul. Seems about right, though I wouldn't mind seeing it longer.

Bynum just needs his ass whipped once. He is a *****.

5 is about right. I've heard that'll be a 700K hit in terms of lost pay based on his contract.


The only thing I think would be interesting to add is a conditional penalty that says if the team Bynum is on makes the playoff, he has to sit one game then too.
