After seeing several reply that a 5 game suspension is about as strict as they've seen then I can tap the breaks a bit.

However - if you watch the history of Bynum's flagrants - it looks like a consistent act of consciously throwing an elbow rib cages when players are vulnerable and in the air.

Maybe (hopefully) this 5 game suspension will work. If it doesn't then he should have the book thrown at him.

Absolutely loose cannons like Artest get a ton of flagrant fouls, but they are of a mixed variety. Bynum's are consistent. He gets mad, waits until a player leaves their feet, jumps towards them, and drives his elbow into their rib cage.

If he doesn't learn his lesson after this then he should sit for a long, long time.

because either way he's losing money. writing the check, and not getting it, both don't equal money in the bank.

or in bynums case playboy bunnies undergarments and tiny sports cars.

I don't really care how long the suspension is. With it being at the beginning of the season, it doesn't really matter anyway.

I just hope that this type of stuff costs him in every contract and endorsement deal he has for the rest of his career (The trend of fouls, not this isolated incident).

Spurs fan...suspension seems about right this time.

If he ever pulls this again, then you hit him with 10 games and an extra fine of 500K.

I'm thinking he will lay off for at least a year or so, given the amount of money he will lose with this suspension.

Thats precisely the problem spurs fan.

He has done this three times including sending a dude to the ER with a collapsed lung. Now you want to give him an opportunity for fourth 'investment-killing' flagrant with a measly 10-day suspension?

Does anyone think the targeting of a specific player should factor into the equation? After what Artest had done to JJ two games prior, it is like the Lakers were trying to make the smallest guy on the court the whipping boy. It was calculated intimidation and aggression. That's BS, and unless you're going to allow the victim to physically defend himself without punishment, this exacerbating factor warranted a heavier punishment, imo.
