mavs better not play him. he can only serve to hurt the way the team is playing right now.

My only concern is that they would Grant Hill him. Mavs are playing great without him. Don't **** with your chemistry that just swept the completely healthy reigning champs. Let him get enough recovery time and come back 100% healthy next year.

I was in Dallas in between Portland and LA series. I heard a lot of scuttlebutt about Butler coming back. Almost all of it was from Butler himself. And Carlisle seemed to be only humoring him. I don't blame either.

I got the impression that the Mavericks had no intention whatsoever of playing him. Same thing with medical staff. Additional injury and team chemistry reasons were both cited.

I think he is Plan C. If Mavs make it to Finals, Butler buys another two weeks of rehab. Then it would still take a significant injury to one or two guys for Butler to even make the roster.

I just have a hard time believing that butler would be ok with being third string center no matter what his health status is.

Im really losing it tonight. My SO asked me to book a flight to see 'the twins birthday' (my nieces who live in Houston). To which I spent 10 mins trying to recall if that means a flight to St. Paul or Minnieanapolis. Luckily she checked in on me before I booked the flight.

Put me in the camp that thinks that Butler is extremely overated and that we really dont need him.

The addition of Peja Stojackovic has totally negated the loss of Butler.

if Caron were a guy that we could count on to to consistently score 18-22 ppg and be a great Robin then I think he would be missed more.

But the reality is that he's a 15 ppg scorer who makes a lot of dumb decisions on the court and hogs the ball when he gets it.

This team has won a bunch of games without him.

His presence takes shots away from Dirk.

To expand on that point.....putting Peja and Jet in the game at the same time totally stretches the court for Dirk.

Suddenly that double team is a hell of a lot harder knowing that two sharpshooters are sitting at the corners.

Caron hogs the ball when he gets it, and just doesnt seem to make a lot of great decisions.
He's a pretty average outside shooter.

While the mavs still have a glaring hole at shooting guard...I would rather have a 2 such as a Jason Richardson, or even what Mike Finley was back in his prime.

What was their record with CB and Dirk.... what was it with just Dirk?

I think they were a better team early in the season with both healthy.

We should've traded him for Gerald Wallace when we had the chance at the trade deadline.

I think one of our biggest strengths right now is our ball movement on offense. Mavs fans know the blal movement stops when Butler is in.
