My guess is it was something like 30-45% Mavs fans and the rest sorta just followed whoever.

If they were Hornets fans than what about before 2005? I would guess Spurs Mavs mix. Spurs existed first and are more successful but mavs are closer.

Yah I would think they would be a mix of Texas teams before the Hornets had their stint in OKC.

I live in SE Okla. and can tell you that 90% of the Okies here were fans of the Metroplex teams. Most of them are still Mavs fans as well as OKC fans.

I moved to OKC early in the Thunder's first season here, and starting rooting for them since we figured we were gonna live here a while after buying a house and all (still kept my hometown Houston rooting interest, but that has waned). I would say before Katrina most were Mavs fans, then of course some were Hornets fans.

The OKC fans got a pretty sweet f'ing deal...in their third season in OKC they are in the WCF.

I used to post here a lot more often, but I still lurk quite a bit. The Padz has been posting here for quite some time.

If you had stars to search past 10 days, you'd see I've been posting about the Thunder for more than 2 weeks. No I haven't followed the team since their days in Seattle, only the past 2.5 years that I've lived here. I saw plenty of bad basketball in person that first season here.

Padz did not just show up 2 weeks ago, trust me. There are only a handful of Thunder fans around here, and he is one of the biggest.

Having lived in OKC for the last 4 years, i have noticed that a lot of folks around here did not grow up in OK and moved here for work (myself included). Many of those people still root for their hometown teams (rockets, spurs, etc). But I would agree that prior to the Thunder & Hornets, the Mavs were probably as popular as anyone else.
