Lebron should follow this template for all future press conferences.

To me, the dictinction I'd make between Chuck's comments and LeBron's is this:

Charles Barkley directly fired back at a relatively small people antagonizing him in person outside a ballgame. Basically he's returning a low blow after receiving a low blow.

LeBron took a more broad sweeping shot at all people rooting against him (which is most basketball fans).. People that never have harassed him or some such, but are by definition "haters" because they are rooting against Goliath.

oh yeah, people like barkley and hate lebron...double standards ftw

That's because Barkley is legitimately funny whereas Lebron is obviously an arrogant ass. The tone of the two statements is completely different.

When are his apologists going to stop kissing his ass?

He has a huge ego. He makes millions of dollars. He hasn't paid his dues and took the easy way out to a title. And choked.

Why anyone would defend the guy is a mystery. Do his apologists just not understand sports fans?

LeBron can't fix with PR the biggest problem. The guy that was supposed to be the greatest player of his generation couldn't beat them so he joined them...and in the capacity of a second banana.

No legitimate competitor does that. That's making winning the ONLY thing. Most guys would appreciate it more if it came as the result of a long hard fight.

Kobe Bryant wouldn't do that ****. He'll have his team go out and get a Pau Gasol...but he'll make damn sure that everyone knows its his team.

Lebron kissed all that goodbye. The struggle doesn't matter. he doesn't want that. 7-8 years in the league, he just wants a ring. That's all.

Who can respect that? if he'd paid his dues and did this years from now, with diminished skills...then maybe. But he did this when he should be hitting the top of his game! That's just not right.

Lebron's biggest problem is that he cares more about marketing himself than he does basketball. Granted he makes a ****load doing that, but he doesn't put nearly the amount of focus on his game that he needs to.

I still find it completely amazing that, as a 6'9" 270 lb player, he has no post moves. The guy should be able to post up most power forwards in the league with his size, strength and quickness. For all of his athletic ability, he really does not know how to use his body very well.

Chuck is usually right, he's funny, and he'll admit his faults.

LeBron is none of that.

He's got time to fix the holes in his game. The question is his heart. And it's a BIG question.

I really don't recall an athlete with this combination of ego, talent, and self-promotion so lacking in heart.

And it's just laughable that all these apologists go on and on about the off-court stuff. The boys club stuff doesn't give him heart. If he was otherwise a great competitor, then sure. But by itself? Who cares? Why should anyone get credit for not committing a crime?

I honest can't get the folks confused about the beatdown Lebron is getting. He is a unique blend. No one with so little drive has ever considered themselves as much a bad ass.

With crap like this why doesnt the NBA reprimand him? Its comments like this that will repel viewers (customers) and it hurts the institution of basketball more than an elbow to the ribs.

Basketball fans are loving to hate the guy. The ratings were through the roof. People wanted to see his ass lose.

It might have been a different story if Miami was on the verge of a sweep or something, though.

Theo that might be true for people following basketball actually watching the Finals, its all theater. To be honest, I was not interested in the recent Lakers/Celtics series. If Portland /Toronto end up in the Finals, I wouldnt watch.

I guess non wrestling fans see Hulk Hogan and they like they can like him, but they wont follow. The moment Hogan "FUs" everyone and becomes "Hollywood Hogan" the non wrestling fan sure as hell aint gonna watch, but it certainly infuriates the wrestling (NAB) fans.

let me get this straight..after he failed to help his team win a championship in the first year after he ran away from the challenge of winning one in cleveland..where he was accused of tanking it in a playoff game last season..shortly before he went on national television to publicly humiliate cleveland..followed by he and two of his rich buddies organizing their own team and guaranteeing six or seven championships..which he and his buddies have yet begun to fulfill because he was invisible in the finals..during which he classlessly mocked the star player on the other team for being sick..even though that star player had consistently outplayed him in the fourth quarter of all the games..when he was a potted plant — after all that..lebron james then rips the rest of us by suggesting we're jealous of his life?
