I think Mavs fans are overselling the title run a bit. Yes, they beat some very good teams on the way to the title - that happens every year. The Mavs only beat one team (Heat) that had more regular season wins than them (by only 1 win). Dallas tied LA for 2nd best record in the West but lost on the division title tiebreaker. If Dirk wouldn't have missed games due to injury, the Mavs may have finished with the best record in the league.

And saying they beat teams with All-NBA players is a given. What teams make it into the playoffs every year? The ones with the best players.

Don't get me wrong, Dallas had an amazing year and run in the post-season. I think it is oversold because the media predicted them to choke based on past Dallas performances. However, this year's team was nothing like the previous teams that blew it in the playoffs.

Not true. For example in 2007 3 of the top 5 players were trapped on horrible teams (Kobe, KG, Wade). Even Lebrons finals team was mediocre around him. All year we've been talking about why this season is special because so many of the top players were finally on legit contending teams at the same time. 6 of the top 10 all-NBA players were on 3 teams. That's a flashback to the 80s. It happened as well for a couple years in the mid 90s.

The one-superstar Mavericks, with their next best player on the bench with a rebuilt knee, just beat a salty Portland team with Aldridge/Wallace, swept the defending champion Lakers who have a top 5-10 player all time, held off the NBA scoring champion, and in the Finals conquered two 1st team All-NBAers on the same team and to that point the guy who was considered the greatest of his generation, and we're OVERselling the title?

Give me a ****ing break dude.

I apologize. The Mavs title run this year was the greatest of all time. For a team that only won 57 games in the regular season and finished tie for the second best conference record, it was incredible to watch the Mavs roll through the playoffs against the greatest players of this generation - despite the fact that they only had a top 20 all time player, a Hall of Fame PG, and a clutch 3-pt shooter.

Fathers will be telling the story of the 2011 playoffs and Saint Nowitzki to their children for years to come. I can't wait to buy the championship DVD so that I can play it on lonely Friday nights sitting on the couch in my Snuggie.

What seems to be so quickly forgotten is the number of dramatic fourth quarter comebacks the Mavericks had. Sure, it went the other way once, against Portland. Can anyone come up with a comparably dominant playoff run of never facing elimination and having so many fourth quarter comeback victories?

The haters can easily dismiss the fourth quarter comebacks (if they were so good, why did they fall behind so far and "have" to come back)? I view them as displays of their great resolve and poise.

It was inspired basketball - same way the Rockets played in '95. It wasn't about greatness or dominance. It was about heart.
