Both teams are said to be willing to deal, who would say no to this? Both teams prefer to get younger building blocks, but Steve is still one of the top point men in the league and the Spurs could pick up for his lack of defense. Granted they wouldn't be getting younger, but it could be a "one last shot" type of deal. His contact expires after the season and that's $11 mil coming off the books.

The Suns could start to rebuild with TP, or trade him later for younger player(s) or picks.

What would y'all think about it, especially Spurs fans?

I'm a Mavs fan, and I'd hate to see Steve in SA, but it'd be interesting.

The Spurs two biggest problems last year were bad defense and age. Why would they trade one of the few guys they have in the prime of his career for a 15-year vet who wouldn't know defense if it hip-checked him into the scorers table?

if the spurs want their one last ditch shot at a ring for tim, it wouldn't be the worst move on earth. the spurs have enough shooters to fully utilize nash, and he makes absolutely any team he plays on that much better.

if the spurs really are trying to get younger, than having nash for one season only makes sense to clear up some space.

it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but it's a weird thought to think of steve in black and silver.

The only way the Spurs do that is if they can send Jefferson with him and it would be hard for Pheonix to put together a package for those numbers to work out, even if they wanted to do that deal.

Ulrich, I don't follow the Spurs real close, basically just if they win or lose on a game to game basis unless they're playing the Mavs or I have nothing better to do and they are on TNT or whatever, so I was genuinely trying to gauge from those more in the know, forgive my ignorance.

I apologize, that wasn't meant to imply that it was a bad question, I guess the colorful language disguised the Socratic (rather than sarcastic) intent of the question.

As far as the move, I think it would improve the Spurs for one year but has a high opportunity cost (what needs could the Spurs fill by trading Parker) and the potential to hurt them in the long run with an overpriced contract for an older player.

it would seem that jefferson would actually be a pretty good running partner with nash...although he is a shell of a guy that ran with kidd what seems like 30 years ago in new jersey

True all the way around, and it may not do anything at all for a rebuild/retooling/get younger project, but it sure would be fun seeing Steve and Manu on the court together.
