I like this trade. Three players for George Hill? I think Indiana really wanted the local kid.

Going into the draft, Leonard was one of the guys I really liked. Obviously Pop and RC like him as well. And then they get the Bertans kid who many had projected the Spurs taking him at 29, it was well publicized that they like him. Then they get Joseph at 29 who may be able to immediately fill that backup PG slot. IMO, he's a solid PG and not a tweener. He also has good size and played defense even as a fish at tu.

I like Hill and would have been fine with trading Tony. But the reality is this is a guard heavy team. Neal and Anderson need minutes and it can't always be in a small lineup. If Memphis showed us anything, it's that you can never have enough long and athletic guys. Leonard had San Diego State ranked in the top 5 last year. His only weakness is apparently his jump shot. I guess I'm in the minority but yeah, I like the trade.

i like the trade because the spurs front office has shown time and time again that they know what they are doing. duncan is a once in a lifetime team centerpiece, but the spurs knew how to build an entire team. that's what got them four larry's in 9 years. spurs fans need to have some faith in the men behind the scenes.

Unless the spurs were going to trade Parker for a starting big + a role player, this is a good move.

Still need to add one more big man if they want any chance at another ring. I really hope Splitter improves a lot.

They got more out of Hill than I knew at first, but I still don't like giving him up.

I'm starting to like this deal more. I'm just concerned about our bench's offensive production.

who knows? this staff is capable of missing (jefferson) so it's not like this is a sure-fire thing.

what does it matter though if pop is going to play veterans all the time

They also got Jefferson for three retiring players. It wasn't like they took a big swing and missed. When you need a SF and someone has a SF that scores 20ppg and will accept three guys that are retiring, you take that. No brainer.

For the record, I like the trade.

Jefferson being a miss was more about the $ amount of the contract. He was at least a contributor last season, just not 11 million worth of contributions (and definitely not the 15 mil or whatever his original contract was worth).

ulrich beat me to it. there's more than just grabbing a so-so player. it's locking him up to too much money and hamstringing the rest of your roster. i'm not calling them out for being incompetent or anything...just that they're far from perfect

Far from perfect? There's not many that have done it better. Not just in the NBA but in Professional Sports.

Being one of the best doesn't mean they are close to perfect.

True. but they are NOT "far from perfect," as drey00 stated.
