Realistically, what would the spurs have to do....

To have one more shot at another title with Duncan/Ginobili? Are they just simply one more post away from it? Could Anderson being a year older make any difference? Would we have to dump Jefferson's contract to make room for a couple more role players. Is there any realistic option out there to give them one more shot at it?

Well that would be nice. Not counting on it though.

Obviously they have to get better inside otherwise it doesn't matter what we have at guard.

Davis Bertans. Some thought the Spurs would draft him at 29 right? Got him with the 42nd pick from the pacers.

According to Fran they are going to have to stash him for a couple years.

Splitter would have to play well (as it seemed he could when his idiot coach actually let him play).

Anderson would have to play well (not too far-fetched; he did very well last year before he was injured).

Leonard would have to come in and play well (possible; Barkley and others seem to think he's starter quality -a Gerald Wallace clone).

It wouldn't hurt if we could get solid contributions from Lorbek or Richards (also possible, though more uncertain). Also, if Pryzbilla comes down as a free agent and recovered fully from his injury, that would be good.

That's a lot of ifs, but it's not impossible (though somewhat unlikely that ALL those things happen - hopefully enough of them to do the trick).

RJ has to play like George W. Bush is still in office.

They don't have a shot. They're washed up. Their time is over.

Like Thompson said, if things fall into place, it's possible. No reason to completely count them out. They'll at least be a tough out in the playoffs.

Who is Richards?

My biggest concern is will Pop give enough PT to Leonard if he's deserving of it or will him being a rookie get in the way?

The answer to this question is simple, and its this, unless they end up trading him:

It also wouldn't hurt for Blair and Bonner to avoid shrinking away when late February rolls around.

Blair disappeared because he got benched against memph, which was a bad decision IMO.

Is Prysbilla a realistic option? Has he expressed interest in the spurs?

I'm very interested to see if either Richards or Lorbek can make it over this season and provide anything.

If Splitter gets more time, along with Duncan, maybe Prysbilla, and one of Richards or Lorbek, the spurs could be much stronger inside.

I think Leonard and Joseph will get more PT than your average rookie under pop because they are already there defensively. Pop can get over an offensive mistake as long as you play great defense.

His contribution to the team did shrink in February when he was taken out of the starting 5...however, his game changed a lot too during that time. He started playing like an undersized and overmatched player, which is something he hadn't done a lot before. Previously, he had played a lot bigger than his height and threw people around. That went out the window in mid-March, a good while after he had been benched.

I don't know if he let it get to him or what, but he was not the same player the last quarter of the season.

Randolph and Gasol were also bad matchups for Blair. Blair's defensive success was predicated on taking chances; taking chances against Randolph usually means a free bucket because he is so good at positioning and leverage. Gasol was too tall and wide.
