Shorter schedule bad for the Southwest?

One guess on the 66 game schedule retains the 4 games per division, and puts out of division games at 2 per team

(2 per EC team = 15 x 2) 30 games
(2 per WC team, not in division = 10 x 2) 20 games
4 x 4 division opponents - 4 x 4) 16 games

Which means top teams in easy divisions have an easier road, which is the same as the past, but this will be even more so this year (if schedule true).

ehh...just wanted to start an actual season related thread...

Realistically, the postseason could include the Mavs, Rockets, Spurs, and Grizzlies. We're in the SEC West of the NBA.

Also, the new schedule will include some Back to back to back (3 nights in 3 days).

However, I also heard only 18 OOC games, meaning not all teams will be visiting all arenas.

That would be a tough sell....yep, the Heat or Lakers or world champs aren't coming to town this year.

Spurs won the Championship last time there was a shorten season.

The Spurs were a lot younger back then. Shortened seasons generally wear down the older teams more due to increased games on consecutive days.

Mavs, Spurs, Lakers, and Celtics are some teams that could struggle. Not saying they won't all do well, just giving my opinion. Teams like OKC and Memphis will have a definite advantage.

No need to play manu and Timmy in the back to back to backs
We will be fine and hopefully more rested come playoff time

Conference Games: 48
• Play 6 teams 4 times (2 home, 2 away)
• Play 4 teams 3 times (2 home, 1 away)
• Play 4 teams 3 times (1 home, 2 away)

Non-Conference Games: 18
• Play 3 teams 2 times (1 home, 1 away)
• Play 6 teams 1 time at home
• Play 6 teams 1 time away

Back to Back to Backs: All teams with at least 1; no more than 3

Playoff Back to Backs: Possible in second round

Also all teams have 2 preseason games.

Grizzlies and Hornets play each other twice. Unsure if the other Southwest foes have announced preseason schedule, but if they are just doing regional pairings, I could see OKC playing Dallas, and Houston and S.A. playing each other twice.

I know about the Hornets/Grizzlies, but I have no clue on the others; someone else might know the preseason agenda.
