Will he ever play? I just saw that he won't be available for at least the start of this season, but we all know how that story goes with him.

It's sad, he seems like a really good guy and seems like he'd be a great player if his body didn't betray him. I don't understand how someone can go through 19 years of their life playing basketball and then all of the sudden have this many problems over such a short span.

I understand the NBA schedule is more rigorous but he hasn't even had the chance to play one. What happened between college and the NBA that his body fell apart like this?

Body just gave out after yeas of basketball. Remember, these days they don't just play during the season but also have those summer leagues, etc. It's a year round sport and a frame that big can only take so much. Look at Yao Ming. When he wasn't playing here he was back in China playing. Sure some guys like Shaq can have long careers, but odds are when you are that big that your body will give up a lot sooner than the average.

Lol...

The crazy thing about his situation is Portland didn't know or overlooked it when they picked him over Durrant.

Everyone was praising the Portland front office for their trades and drafts. One first round pick retires with bad knees and their #1 overall really never played because of injury. While the skinny kid they passed on will probably finish in the top 10 in scoring when it's all said and done.

Do NBA teams get to examine prospects like they do in the NFL before the draft?
