I'm thinking he does. I think he had 2 choices once the lockout ended.
1. Go for broke and leverage all that he could to keep his championship team intact as much as possible while maybe trying to add another piece or two to replace the guys you couldn't keep. Hope to catch lighting in a bottle again sometime in the next year or two and get another championship.
2. Blow it up and build for the future when some of these super teams are on the decline and you can make another run. Let's face it, the next 3 to 5 years are going to belong to either Miami or LA. There is just too much talent on those two teams to realistically believe one of the two isn't going to win the championship probably 4 out of the next 5 years.
I think option 1 was a long shot to be successful at. I think Cuban knows he has bought himself a couple of years of good will with last years success. He knows he can have a couple of lousy years to try and win the lottery and maybe pick up a new superstar or 2 though the draft to match up with an aging Dirk for another run at it in say 4 or 5 years down the road.
