as a Mavs homer and big NBA fan I can only hope someone yet again sends Lebron to his room crying for 2 weeks after he chokes in the playoffs

The Mavs got dicked over by the lockout. With full attention on football and now the abbreviated free agency period, the Mavs winning the championship 1) seems like ten years ago and 2) has taken a back seat to CP3/Howard.

Add to that the fact that the Mavs team that won the championship was an unassuming one with an unassuming superstar, a team that already looks different than the one that won, then bam.

Too bad because that championship run was one of the best I've seen in the last ten years. The most memorable since 2007 New York Giants.

Happened to the Spurs after every title year. Just how it goes if you're not LA/Boston/Chicago.

Or in this case, Miami.

I actually think the Mavs ring ceremony on the first game will be the most watched ring ceremony in NBA history because it is on Christmas on ABC. And even though it is an NFL day (but not a Cowboys game day), that is better than late October on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

In the past I'm not sure anybody except the fans of the team actually watch the ring ceremony. This year will probably be a little different.

I recall the ring ceremony is usually on the first TNT doubleheader, but you're right this will be the most watched banner raising ever. (Cuban says actual ring ceremony will be later tba). But the focus is all on the Heat - it wasn't the Mavs winnin the title, it was the Heat losing the title. Whatever.

We haven't had the TNT crew get to to sound off on the Mavs title, but now they will only focus on how losing Chandler, Stevenson and Butler will kill any chances of repeating. Again, whatever. Im going to full enjoy this season no matter what happens as long as Dirk is playing.
