Demarcus Cousins is unhappy in Sacramento.

He has character issues. But he's a supremely talented young big man that can score and rebound. I think Darryl's got to try to get him. Here's one possibility:

Give up Scola for Cousins and John Salmons bad contract.

My question is: is it worth the possible headache?, and what would you give up to get him here?.

I wouldn't want him on any team I'm a fan of.

Sacramento wouldn't do that deal unless there were 3 or 4 draft picks coming back their direction.

I"d love to have Cousins, but I think there's something wrong with him in the head. I don't think he's someone Pop and crew can whip in to shape. But trading Blair and Bonner for him might be worth the risk.

Sorry to hijack the thread above..... If I'm Houston, why not? You wouldn't have to give up much. Plus, the Rockets are just going to hover in the middle of the pack anyways, with a best case 2012 draft scenario being a low lottery pick where there probably won't be someone of Cousin's caliber (although the 2012 will be a lot better than prior years).

He is a great talent, and his basketball ability would be an upgrade to our roster. I just don't know if he is mentally and emotionally stable enough to be a successful player and teammate in the locker room. But there is no arguing the fact that the dude can play basketball

Cousins is a cancer, has been since junior high. Look at his track record, he will submarine any team he lands on.

ill pass. we seem to have a lot of chemistry on our team (botched gasol trade not withstanding), cousins would destroy that

Scola is also 10 years older. The Rockets don't have enough talent to compete and no one is denying that Cousins isn't an upgrade in talent. Probably wouldnt have to give up too much either

I would not mind the Rockets trying to get him

I'll go ahead and deny it.

Scola 10-11:

18 pts 8 reb, 2.5 ast, .6 block 50.4% FG

Cousins 10-11:

14 pts 8.7 reb, 2.5 ast, .8 block 40.3% FG

I know last years stats are not indicative of Cousins 'potential' at 21 years old. Scola has proved himself to be an efficient 4, even at 31. Defensively, I would say they are a push. I don't see him being someone worth losing Scola and someone else for.

True, but I think you just answered your own question as to why we would pursue him: potential.

Also, while stats are always a good measure of how an athlete performs, there are other things that aren't in the box score, such as altering shots and playing good defense without accumulating any "stats". Shane was a master at this. He may not get a blocked shot, but he sure as hell makes every star on the opposing team earn their points by constantly putting a hand in the shooters face. It's for this reason I think Cousins is better defensively than Luis. He's simply more athletic, so he's able to play aggressive down low and alter shots when Luis can't.

There are pros and cons for either player. I think though, when you consider everything, that we are better off with Luis. I would rather have a guy who works his tail off every night while not being as talented as opposed to a God given talent like Cousins who is apathetic and cancerous in a locker room

sorry my post was a little confusing... i wasnt trying directly to compare scola and cousins but more that cousins has a lot of talent in general and would be an upgrade to the roster for what little it seems the rockets would have to give up since sacramento is basically gining up on him.

I saw him play against the Rox last year and he was such a beast down low. I don't remember his stat line but he was just so much quicker and aggressive on the block compared to anyone we had. He looked pretty good paired with Dalembert too.
