There's supposed to be a lot of stuff going down. Word is a lot of the teams are hesitant due to the new CBA rules. Once the first domino falls....

It looks like it will be-

Clippers get: Jamal Crawford
Blazers get: Ryan Gomes and Eric Bledsoe

Crawford is a hell of a scorer, but Bledsoe's just gotten back, is incredibly young and an amazing defender. Portland gets out better in this deal.

Awful moves for the clippers. They already have a jamal crawford in Mo williams. This will hurt their defense while just adding another ballhog to the team. Not to mention they won't have a true back up pg.

i think they struck out on Ray Allen.

that's the move i really don't want them to make

Apparently there are big onea brewing, including..

Houston gets: andrew bogut, stephen jackson and his 10MM contract (yikes)
Bucks get: Dalembert, Lee and 2 draft picks

Apparently Morey is into getting fisted

Also in the works with this is.possibly Bogut going to golden state, with Ellis going to Orlando. Not sure what Orlando would be giving up in this part

Utah is trying to move Devin Harris and Paul Millsap.

If only the Spurs organization read texags...

There's always rumors of Utah trying to move Milsap and/or Jefferson. I would love to have him, but there is no way they would be dumb enough to take RJ.

man was RC Buford on the sauce when he picked up RJ? Look at this:

$9,282,000
$10,164,000
$11,046,000

that's what Jefferson's owed over the next 3 years. in 2014, that makes him one of the top 40 highest paid players in the league. Jesus christ.

i'm not sure how the new CBA is structured, if the jazz can trade for him then amnesty him. if that's the case, and they move millsap and harris, they will have a ton of cap room. Their highest paid player outside of big Al would be Derrick Favors at 4.7MM.

Come June, would the spurs be the dumbest team in the league to not amnesty Jefferson?

To amnesty a player, they had to be on your team under contract when the CBA was signed, I believe.

unsure about that Soup. according to this it says the contract only has to be signed as of the new CBA, looks like there might be a loophole:
quote:

Would that enable teams to deal for players with awful contracts by the trade deadline and then cut them lose to gain the cap/tax savings?

The provision is said to only include players under contract before the current CBA but timing may allow for some wheeling and dealing with Amnesty in mind.

Additionally teams may be able to use a Stretch Exception to cut a player while paying out their salary over twice the length of the contract (plus a year). Certainly the Stretch Exception will impact who teams use the Amnesty on.

rockets fans should rejoice, according to this it was Lowry being out 4 weeks that put the deal with the Lakers on hold

quote:
The Lakers are said to be serious about trading Pau Gasol in the right deal, with the emphasis on saving on future payroll. But Rockets guard Kyle Lowry being out 2-4 weeks with a bacterial infection may have put the brakes on a potential Gasol-to-Houston deal. If the Lakers could've gotten a healthy Lowry, rival executives believe it would've eased the loss of Gasol. Luis Scola has been showing signs of age, but while he has two guaranteed years totaling $19.6 million left, that's about half what Gasol is owed over the next two seasons.

The Spurs will surely amnesty him. The only reason they didn't before was because there was a question mark on Kawhi and Green's ability. Now that they have shown to be productive, Jefferson is expendable.

and here we, go.

quote:
One thing the Magic are holding out for, a source told
Sporting News, is the resurrection of talks with the Los
Angeles Lakers. As the process has played out, it has become
clear that the Magic are not going to get a better player
in return for Howard than All-Star Lakers center Andrew
Bynum. Back in December, the Lakers had strong interest in
Howard, but team VP Jim Buss said there was no way he would
trade both Pau Gasol and Bynum to the Magic for Howard.
Given Bynum’s injury history, a deal in which Bynum was the
main target was a longshot.

Still, rumors of a deal involving Bynum persisted, and when
he was asked about it on media day, Bynum said, “If they
were able to pull a move like that off, it would be great
for the organization, and I’d be in Orlando, you know,
hoopin’.”

Now the question is whether the Lakers would give up Bynum
at all in a package for Howard. He has been healthy all
season.

^That would be weird to see Bron in a Magic Jersey, but then again I never thought I would see him in anything but a Cavs jersey

fyi...the lakers will never give up Bynum for howard at this point. On the off chance howard walks at the end of the year, and bynum is playing too well

also, a S&T is out because i believe the max contract under the new CBA is 3 years to do that. so that doesn't work either.

www.twitter.com

Woj reports something on twitter, then like 2 hours later, Stein scrambles to make a story out of the tweet.
Simplebay

Woj didnt break this

this is being driven by the bulls, directly to stein. Stein's sources are in chicago FO, and asked him to run the story to draw up interest from the lakers.

more importantly though, chicago needs interest from other teams. LA doesn't want Boozer.

Especially since they play in the craptastic Eastern Conference, where an 18-24 keeps you in 8th place.

There are 13 teams in the West with better than a .439 winning percentage--and they play a tougher schedule.

Buford hasn't made many big mistakes over the last decade. Richard Jefferson is one of them. He and Pop thought Richard would turn a corner and get back to his Bucks form. Never happened and now we're stuck with a 10 million dollar backup.
