When you're inches away from a guy (trying to crowd him to make him uncomfortable/miss the shot), of course he might land on your feet when he comes down - especially if he's moving forward as he shoots. The only alternative is to back off several feet and not guard.
As for the Wally Sczerbiak kick to the face, watch the video. Wally fakes as if he's going to shoot it - Bruce jumps in the air and kicks his leg out to block the passing lane. Then Wally drives into Bowen's foot. If you're saying Bowen should have altered the laws of physics, stopped in midair and waited for Wally to drive past - OK.
