Don't know quite what to think about him. He was in a weak 1990 draft, but the fact that he had quit the team at UF on multiple occasions should have been a red flag.

The best moment I can remember of him being a Spur was in a Pizza Hut commercial with Sean Elliot. He was the punchline to the commercial.

RIP big fella. We probably just didn't understand you.

43 is way too young.

The 2 things that I'll remember most about Schinzius was the mullet hair and the fact he testified against POS Jayson Williams for shooting a dog with a shotgun. RIP, big fella.

Wow. I didn't know he had leukemia.

I wondered many times how the Spurs would have turned out if they took Elden Campbell over Dwayne.

I got his autograph on a perfume sample at the Dillard's in North Star Mall right after he was drafted! RIP.

The Alamodome didn't open until 1993.

I was actually trying to remember if it was Hemisphere or Alamodome

Do you remember if your view of Schintzius sitting on the bench was obstructed by a column?

When the Spurs would be up by 20 with less than 3 minutes to go, the crowd would start chanting "Schintzius Schintzius Schintzius".

Do fans still chant for the bench warmers? I remember "Copa, Copa."

Sorry to hear this. He was a bit of a punk in college. Had some sort of trouble at a tennis club. Late in a road game soon after that, the fans threw a bunch of tennis balls on the court. I think Florida actually won the game due to a technical foul called!

I still remember that SportsCenter!
