It's a no win situation for Kobe. Does anyone really doubt he could put up 40 tonight? He's gotten killed all season for taking too many shots, what do you think would have happened if he scored 39 on 11-35 shooting tonight?
Plus, even though most people don't buy it, it does probably set a good example for his teammates.
I don't think he's worried about actually setting a good example for teammates (or anybody) so much as he's worried about the appearance of setting a good example
I think he is most concerned with being healthy for the playoffs because he knows he is going to be the one that has to take up Artest's slack on both ends of the court.
Speaking of which. Who makes the choice on TNT games? They had 13 games to choose from, and so before the season, they thought the Knicks-Bobcats was going to be the most interesting game and Spurs-Warriors the best from the West?
Mavericks-Hawks at least would have been two playoff teams. And what made them think that the Spurs would do anything but rest players tonight?
1. The Admiral not vaging out? Come on. If Robinson was in this position, Spurs fans on here would big him up for being non-selfish or focusing on "what's important" or some other home **** like that.
2. My guess is that Kobe is legit hurt/healing. Dude a decade and a half into his career. I seriously doubt he would care if people called him "selfish" for gunning for 38. They've been calling him selfish since he was 17. I don't think he'd sit out to avoid any criticism. At this point in his career, he's in full-on DGAF mode.
3. Congrats to Durant. Won the title while going through a couple of mini slumps and alongside a point guard who takes 20 shots a game. Impressive.
I'm amazed Kobe is still going so strong with the injuries he has had, 1300+ games + Olympics and deep playoff runs. Dude is a boss. But I think the only reason he doesn't try to get #3 is he is hurt.
