Los Angeles Lakers big man Jordan Hill has just been charged with felony assault for allegedly choking a family member during an altercation in Texas earlier this year ... TMZ has learned.

The charge was filed by the Harris County District Attorney in Houston. It's unclear who Hill is accused of attacking.

The alleged incident took place on February 29. If convicted, Hill faces up to 10 years in prison.

24-year-old Hill was recently traded to the Lakers from Houston in exchange for Derek Fisher ... and has become a key member of the team.

Multiple attempts to reach a rep for Hill were unsuccessful.

Of course it makes sense, just as he started playing well/at all.

I bet Pau Gasol and Steve Blake feel like outcasts without either a arrest record or suspension for delivering a cheap shot.

Kobe - the sexual assault thing + arm flail incidents...probably more.

Ramon Sessions - See mugshot and arrest notes: http://www.bustedmugshots.com/arizona/phoenix/mario-ramon-sessions/31847562

Bynum - looks to undercut or cheapshot guys going to the basket...the more vulnerable or smaller, the better.

Ron Artest/MWP - (fill in the blank)

Matt Barnes - Generally, an asswipe. Prefers to push guys in the back.

-others-
Derek Fisher - Scola incident

Luke Walton - currently under investigation for fraud by the NBA for his paycheck that he steals from the Caviliers.

Kobe - the sexual assault thing + (you are a whiner)

Ramon Sessions - Huh?

Bynum - totally your opinion. You should have watched basketball in the 1980's.

Ron Artest/MWP - (fill in the blank) Granted.

Matt Barnes - Generally, an asswipe. Prefers to push guys in the back. (I'll semi-agree on this one)

-others-
Derek Fisher - Scola incident (yeah Fisher is a real black mark on society)

Luke Walton - currently under investigation for fraud by the NBA for his paycheck that he steals from the Caviliers. (This was actually funny, even with the spelling fail.)

C'mon, the Ramon Sessions mug shot...that was kinda funny too.

Also, in spite of what revisionist like to believe, the type of shots that Bynum gave Beasley and Barea didn't frequently occur in the 80s because guys weren't able to get to the basket like those guys did because of the hand checks. Look at the Mahorn and Laimbeer era of fouls. It was get your arms up and swallow up the arms and ball. It wasn't "wait until the guy has his arms up, ribs exposed, and then turn sideways and throw a shoulder or elbow". Do you ever remember Laimbeer or Mahorn letting Jordan rise up, and them keeping their arms down and turning sideways or submarining the guy?
Maybe you can find a link of such an incident?

The McHale on Rambis foul is still atypical of the era, which is why that is shown a lot.

I’m saddened to learn of the accusations that were filed against me today. At this time I cannot comment further other than to say that my attorneys are working to gather all the facts and evidence and I plan to cooperate completely with the authorities.

“I’d like to apologize to the Lakers organization and to all of their fans for the untimeliness of these accusations. I promise to keep my focus and attention on the playoffs during this time and to helping my team with another championship

Lay-ups were pretty much not allowed back then if some was defending the goal. Sure they weren't all of the Rambis-McHale variety but if you came into the paint, particularly in the half-court, you got dealt with.
