I'm no die hard Spurs or OKC fan, but the calls in the final 18 minutes of that game were terribly one sided. At what point did the Spurs just give up b/c of the the continued beating they got from the officiating crew?

OKC earned it.

Yes I would of liked to get a few more calls. But the Thunder were the better team.

false.

worst officiated games ever were games 3-6 of the 06 finals. tonight was very bad, thunder earned the win though.

before you say I'm a bitter mavs fan, I was rooting for the spurs. absolutely hate over half the thunder team.

I'll concede that, but I hate when the officiating plays such a deciding factor in the game. If you are going to let them play... let them all play.

go and watch game 3 of the '06 Finals and tell me again how badly the Spurs got jobbed tonight.

Joey Crawford

Game 6 on the road
Spurs had a lot to overcome

My best guess is the officials were already assigned before the Spurs choked away game 5 and they assumed this would force game 7 with a Thunder win. Oh well

completely agree jrod, NBA refs egos know no bounds. they love being the center of attention.

look like a lot of deliberate calls on Jackson and Ginobli tonight at too many key moments. the game loses enjoyment when you feel the scales aren't equal.

are crawford and kennedy the refs? i'm sorry, just don't watch enough nba bball to know. i really don't recall the 06 finals... didn't really care enough at the time to watch them.

Worst officiating I've seen in years. Would the Spurs have won this game? Dunno, but I'd like to at least have it as a fair fight. K Leonard gets whacked on the head grabbing a rebound, then loses control of the ball for a Spurs turnover. No foul called on Westbrook, who pounded Leonard pretty hard. Conversely, Manu does a beautiful behind the back pass to Leonard - who scores a 3 on the play when they really needed it - yet Manu gets tagged for knocking down "the beard"... yet it was Harden who ran into Manu. Jeez!... gimme a break.

And the technical called on Steven Jackson was the weakest I've ever seen. Mo Cheeks was already standing up giving Jackson **** from the sideline, yet when Jack hit the 3 he smacks back. If you call it on one, you gotta call it on the other.

Horrible officiating. Just horrible. Not taking anything away from the Thunder, but the Spurs were playing two opponents tonight: the NBA team in white and the refs.

Game 6 of 2011 Finals was twice as bad as this game.

in whose favor?

all I remember about last year was Dirk draining shot after shot while Wade whined and lebron stood there in the fourth quarter looking like a retard.

difference in the game

a coach that actively talks crap to an opposing player while he is on the court should be a double T, ejection and suspension

This should have been the finals, we all know that- but the Sonics are the team of the future and the battles with the Heat are all that we will see for the next 10 years

and don't forget the 10 times durant got free throws on non shooting fouls,

but the ultimate was the Westbrook layup that mousthache boy gave the and 1 too even tho no one touched him

I'm saying that because I watched the game. It was miles worse than tonight.

You have a few facts sorta right. The Heat did stumble around in fourth quarter. Dirk was not great in Game 6. His first half was lousy, but put it together in 4th quarter.

The officials were horrendous in Game 6. NBA definitely wanted a 7th game and if it could cripple the Mavs, even better.

Heat got every call for 48 minutes. Dirk was hacked by Haslem on nearly every shot without a whistle.

But JET's brilliance and Heat's lackluster performance overcame biased officiating.

you could tell Duncan has pissed. the only reason i felt like commenting was because it seemed to be a difference maker in the game. it's like they decidede to single out jackson, ginobli for fouls and let durant and westbrook play off limits to contact.

that's a big reason why i can never watch nba basketball.

gotcha birdman, I do remember that now. NBA did all they could, but last year's mavs team was a team of destiny for sure. Terry was money when needed, Dirk was unstoppable in every 4th quarter. still nothing can get the image out of my head of Wade going down the lane completely untouched time after time getting calls everytime.

mookie, that and 1 call for westbrook was absolutely terrible. probably worse than Jackson's T. I kept rewinding and couldn't figure out where they were getting anything, I think they called it on Leonard but ginobili was guarding him, yet never touched him.

The Ginobli/Leonard call was more confusing than wrong.

Manu was close to hitting shooter's elbow. Not sure if he did. Leonard was clearly hooking somebody else on the rebound. TNT crew had same idea that I did.

I think the Spurs fouled on the play but refs got mixed up on offender. Thunder were in double bonus so it was 2 shoots whether on floor or while shooting.

I missed the technical. But Jackson has a well-deserved reputation as a meat head. Just like Artest, he'll never get benefit of the doubt.

One of the assistant coaches for the Thunder was practically on the court beside Jax flailing his arm that didn't have the clipboard in it. How Jax got a T for "taunting" when he looked at the guy like "you can't faze me" is beyond comprehension... One of the Thunder players was waving a towel on the other side of Jax as well.

now i get it. the mavs were robbed of a championship in 06 by the refs and stern, but that was just bitter mavs fans. probably the worst officiated playoff series in nba history according to most.

now that the spurs lost after being up 2-0, its really the refs. spurs fans are hilarious.

No one is blaming the refs...but apparently you Mavs fans are going to stick the square peg in the round hole one way or another.

The OP even stated he wasn't a die hard fan of either team, just pointing out his observation.

The Spurs lost because OKC was the better team. The refs sucked because no matter how bad they suck, (including the '06 Finals), it seems there will never be any accountability.

Please find more than one person on this board claiming that the referees are the reason the Spurs the lost this series, and not the fact the OKC was the better team on the court 4 out of 6 games.

Reading comprehension must be a ***** for some of you...

Spurs fans want to beetch, but they would *never* blame the officials... typical, elitist attitude coming from San Antonio of all places. haha

I'm not gonna go through all the comments from last night coming from cry babies blaming the refs. It was a choke job, spurs had the number 1 seed and a 2-0 series lead, talking about the refs is childish.
yawny06

The only people on this thread that claim the ref's cost them a series are the Mavs. (Not going to disagree on that though...)

The Thunder came back from 15 down to beat the #1 seed in the West for a chance to go to the NBA Finals. They earned it and the refs didn't have anything to do with that fact.

That doesn't change the fact that the officiating crew sucked in the 4th quarter last night.

Only one city in Texas has earned the label "Choke City" and it ain't San Antonio...

The year the rockets were labeled choke city, they won the championship.

OKC certainly earned it by making some big shots. Manu disappeared; Parker quit finding Jack and couldn't hit a shot; Duncan couldn't hit the outside shot they were giving him in the second half; Gary Neal 0/1000; no bench.

But the Spurs were still right there. The no-call on Westbrook clobbering Leonard; the insane offensive foul on Ginobli.....that was it.

I know...I remember watching it as a kid...great team.

But this was no choke job. Last year was a choke a job. This year, the depth and youth of the Thunder wore the Spurs down as the series went on...

OKC earned it. Period.

That said, "conflict of interest" could literally be defined as letting Joey Crawford call an important game involving the Spurs. I can't believe the NBA thinks that is appropriate.
OldArmy71

MassAggie, I completely agree with your second sentence. Wouldn't the NBA want to avoid even the HINT of a fix? Given the history between Crawford and the Spurs, Crawford shouldn't have been anywhere near that game.

I'm very tempted just to quit watching this crap. The refs are too important in the outcome. It's more and more like wrestling.

I really don't think it used to be this way. I was a teen in the sixties watching Russell and Chamberlain and West and Baylor and I certainly had my favorites so I would have been really upset with bad calls. I just don't remember it being an issue. Of course they didn't have instant replay or 37 camera angles either, so maybe that's part of it.
