They have enough to stay afloat without him. It sounds like it's something where he could come back this season. They should still make the playoffs if he has to sit out awhile.

I'm seeing that he might return for the season opener, but is there something else?

if they don't make the playoffs, it won't be because Dirk missed some pre-season time.

What I'm reading is that they will rest him for a week and if it doesn't improve, he will get arthroscopic surgery.
