If you extrapolate the Nets win total from last season, they'd need about 15 or 16 more wins to go over 43. Considering 4 of their 5 best players have statistically regressed the last 3 seasons, I'm indifferent. Basically, you are betting Joe Johnson and a full season of Gerald Wallace = 17 victories. All of a sudden, I really don't like the over much at all.

I agree. I wouldn't surprised if the Nets were a .500 8th seed.

The Nets also get Brook Lopez back. He played only 5 games last year.

The Nets also added depth with Reggie Evans, Josh Childress, CJ Watson and Andray Blatche. While it is debateable how those characters will mesh, they are more talented with their depth.

Still, they also could have 3 or 4 of their starters get hurt again this year, and they are the type of team that could beat the Heat one night and turn around and lose to Toronto the next.

Under on Lakers. Over on Spurs

Agree on both counts, and probably is against the majority of folks laying down money, at least for the Lakers.

Besides having been over that winning % the last few years, one thing that helps the Spurs is that the Southwest divison has probably not been this weak for a long time.

Take the under on the T'Wolves before it changes.

The question is: over under on how many games Royce white makes it to?

Might want to take the under on the Mavs if Dirk's knee is as bad as expected.

Lakers are going to take awhile to get it going IMO. and the Spurs will finish 1st in the west for the third year in a row. They will flail out in the WCF but they will win over 55 games.

I agree on Brooklyn over.

Also like Over on Chicago. Even if Rose misses the start.

For the WC to finish:

I actually thing the Spurs will win the West, but the Lakers to represent the West in the Finals.

Of course, OKC could ruin both those ideas.

Predicted playoff teams and seed.

1. Spurs - Why not? They've done it the last couple years, and the division got easier.

2. OKC -

3. Lakers - I think they will be patient with the injuries that come their way.

4. Grizzlies - Hopefully Rudy Gay and Zach play a full season together.

5. Denver

6. Clippers - I just don't see CP3 staying healthy for another year. Who knows if Sterling will try to trade him.

7. Dallas - Unsure right now how healthy Dirk is

8. Utah - I don't think Minnesota is good enough yet, and neither is Sac, Phoenix or Houston

In case folks missed it, Darko Milicic signed a contract with Boston after getting amnestied by the T'Wolves.

For those keeping track that puts the top 5 draft picks of the 2003 draft in the East...which doesn't really matter.

The Celtics o/u win total is now 50.5.

The Thunder's total is now down to 59.5 and the Rockets is 31.5. I don't know if that is from the trade or just normal movement.

Post-season bump.

For those who travel this board in times other than the playoffs.

Some interesting stats.

The O/U predicted a total of 1,240.5 wins out of a possible 1,230 wins (30 teams * 41 wins on average)

The O/U predicted that the West would win 38.5 more games than the East. The West ended up doing even better, winning 75 more games than the East (652 to 577). The West was .530, while the East was .470.

The biggest discrepancies were LAL (14.5 games worse than predicted), HOU (14.5 games better than predicted), and PHI (13.5 games worse than predicted). 5 teams were 10+ games away from preseason predictions. 13 teams were within 3 games of the preseason prediction.

Predictions in this thread:
Nets Over by 5.5 games
Diet Cokehead: Nets over is easy money.
ATM: ambivalent on the Nets getting to 43.5
Enzo: indicated under
Iowa: indicated over
Token: Over (49)
Sher Thing: Over

Lakers Under by 14.5
Sher Thing: Under
Iowa: Under

Spurs Over by 2.5
Sher Thing: Over
Iowa: Over

Rockets Over by 14.5
Token: Over

Celtics Under by 10.5
Billy Walsh: easily over
