im thinking 2008 UCLA off the top of my head in recent memory. had 4 of their starting 5 drafted, 3 of which are legit starters in the NBA (love, westbrook, and darren collison), and 2 of which (love and westbrook) are stars

I'll throw 1991 UNLV into the mix...won it the year before and almost everybody was back. Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon (3-time DPOY in college), Greg Anthony and an excellent college shooting guard in Anderson Hunt.

Undefeated regular season and had a 45 game winning streak broken when they lost 79-77 to Duke in the FF.

The Fab Five were overrated. Based on individual talent alone they were phenomenal, but they never played entirely together. Whenever they got up against cohesive teams they struggled.

The 96-97 Kentucky team was pretty phenomenal but lost in the finals. Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, Scott Padgett, Nazr Mohommed, Jamaal Magloire. The '97 squad was bracketed by two national titles in '96 and '98 but couldn't get past a salty AZ squad that included Miles Simon, Mike Bibby and Jason Terry.

1983-84 UNC team

M. Jordan's jr year
Sam Perkins Sr. year
Brad Daughtery
Kenny 'the Jet' Smith
Matt Doherty
Joe Wolf

Five guys on that team end up being picked in the top 13 picks of their respective NBA draft including an overall #1 pick.

False. Their Sophomore year, they were a smooth operating machine. Just watch some of their highlights and see the unselfishness these cats had. 92-93 Michigan for my vote.

Even then, its silly to call them overrated. They were freshman and sophomores almost beating senior laden teams.

Fab Five was overated.

I was a fan of them when I was a kid...but after watching the ESPN documentary of them pretty recently...I have come to the conclusion they were overated.

1993 North Carolina is one of the weaker national title teams of the past 25 years...and the Fab Five choked against them.

Best teams Ive seen not win it all (in order) where
1983 Houston
1991 UNLV
1999 Duke
1997 Kansas

The thought of that team infuriates me to this day.

The '73-'74 UCLA Bruins (Keith Wilkes and Bill Walton's senior year) lost to NC State by 3 points in the Final Four. This ended the Bruins 88 game consecutive win streak and a run of 7 straight national championships.

The Fab Five never even won their damn conference. Throw them out. They really are incredibly overrated as such long-standing college hoops icons.

Lsu was the year before.

This was the year we lost to memphis because the most clutch player that season missed an open layup.

Oh.. and it was sarcasm.

06-07 Ags should have made the elite 8 at the very least. Losing that Memphis game was heartbreaking but they lost in the next round to a solid Ohio State team.

Keen in mind though that the 06 LSU tigers that took a miracle three to beat us ended up in the Final Four. Still mad about that...

Fun times
