I'm not counting any chickens yet, but I'll give us a 50/50 chance. We get the Bulls at Staples tomorrow, then it's 8/10 on the road. If we beat Chicago and go 7-3 on that stretch we'll be in good shape headed into a tough April.

I don't like our chances in a series against SA or OKC, but I'd give us a much better shot against SA with a hobbled Parker. We should have Pau back healthy and that will help considerably.

Lakers could jump to #7 the way that the Rockets, Warriors, and Jazz are stumbling around. They are a combined 12-18 over their last 10 games each.

Somewhat interesting stat: Of the 6 current playoff matchups that aren't the #1 vs. #8 seed, the only time the higher seed won the series was #2 Thunder with a 2-1 regular season advantage over the Rockets.

1 other series is tied 2-2, and 4 other series have the lower seeded team with the regular season advantage.

Not sure it means anything, especially with the seeds likely to change.

The Spurs have easily the roughest schedule to close out March, and the most games remaining against playoff level opponents (10). Thunder have 4 games remaining against teams with winning record.

Not sure they will hold on, but I wouldn't bet against it unless Pop decides to rest players going into the playoffs.

That's adorable.

For those that ever look at the Hollinger projections for the playoff race. These are the projected records for teams 4-10. Lots of ties being suggested.

Clips: 55-27
Nugs: 55-27
(Grizz: 54-28)

Rockets: 47-35
Warriors: 47:25

LA Lakers: 41-41
Utah Jazz: 41-41
Dallas Mavs: 41-41

I don't think the Spurs hold the top spot.

I think Pop will choose rest over playoff seeding, and the Spurs still have a rough road to go, including a game at OKC which won't have had a game since Saturday. In that time span, the Spurs will have played 3 games in 3 cities, including games against the Heat and Grizzlies.

I agree. Last night's loss was big, especially with playing Memphis tonight.

Pop sitting Duncan and Kawhi tonight shows he will choose rest over seeding any day of the week but it's still hard to say how it will play out. It isn't like OKC is playing like world beaters right now either (just lost to MIN) and they also have some tough games coming up.

OKC probably gets it but who knows.

Jerry, your Mavs are trying to make a last minute push to the playoffs. Think they can pull it off?

With the power of Jerry willing them to victory anything is possible. Now for the Lakers... I think their ship has sink deeper than the titanic but the Mavs chances still stand just like the iceberg

Who has the tiebreaker between GS and Houston? What about between Utah and LAL?

Houston won 2/3 against GS.

I think Utah has the tiebreaker over both LAL and DAL

For the Utah v. LA race for #8, the Jazz host OKC, play the T'Wolves twice, and then play @ Mem. If Memphis is already slotted into their seeding, they will definitely sit players. Utah, though, has shown an ability to lose games that they should easily win

LA could get the same treatment from the GSW, Spurs and Houston during the last few games, but I doubt it for all 3. At Portland could be rough for them as well.

I can't see Denver dropping to #4 right now, but the Clippers have the tie-breaker with both Memphis and Denver, and Denver has it over Memphis if any of those teams tie.

I think with the remaining schedule for Houston and GS, there is a very decent chance that GS will go 2-3 and the Rockets will go 3-2, giving the #6 slot to Houston. My only question is, will that make any difference? IMO the Nuggets and OKC are both bad matchups for the Rockets, and their only hope to advance to the 2nd round is for the Clippers to end up at #3. Even then it will be tough.

Will it make a difference? Probably not. We'll lose the series against either OKC or DEN. But Denver is a matchup nightmare for us. We would probably get swept by them, whereas I could see us sneaking out a win or two against OKC
CFTXAG10

I don't see this team getting swept by anybody we face. Too much offense for that. Now the game against the Nuggets the other night just goes to show you that even without Lawson and Gallinari the Nuggets are still a solid force at home and have earned that 35-3 record. Important to note that Delfino and Parsons didn't play. It was a back-to-back game and the team didn't arrive in Denver until 4am.

On the road they are still 18-21. If we slip into the 6 seed and face Denver in the playoffs I like our chances just as much as I do against OKC or San Antonio. We won't likely advance but if these young guys can get some playoff experience along with a win or two I will consider it a solid season. Much better than landing the 9 seed like the official rockets thread title suggested.

The Rockets have the team and system to push some teams to the limit. I don't see them being able to advance out of the first round (best chance would be LAC) but with the Spurs and Denver limping into the playoffs I could see Houston taking both those teams to 6 games.

After about 77 games, I think only the Nuggets at the #3 seed is the only safe lock right now.

Otherwise, 1&2, 4&5, 6&7, 8&9 are all within a game of each other.

In the excrement that is the Eastern Conference, maybe the Chicago/Atlanta seeding is up in the air.

Grizz are only one game behind Denver...
