So a while back, I made a thread that asked for your greatest players ever at each position, and it got some good discussion. Now here's another:

You have an 82 game season. Name the 5 players you would use to win it all (an NBA championship, not every game). Here's the kicker: you only get to use one top 50 player (here's the list- http://nba.com/history/players/50greatest.html). Here's mine:

PG- Steve Nash (in his prime)
SG- Reggie Miller
SF- Dominique Wilkins
PF- Dennis Rodman
C- Hakeem Olajuwon (Top 50)

Go.

Edit for an additional rule. You can only use one All-Star from this year.

First off, good topic. But how you would put Hakeem before Jordan is insane. But if we are doing this based off that out of date list, here's mine.

(By the way, Bron Kobe and Duncan are undoubtably top 15 players of all time by now.)

And honestly, I think Nash is the most overrated MVP ever.

Steve Nash by the numbers is the greatest shooter in the history of basketball. Also a top 5 passer ever IMO.

And I chose Hakeem because I want my team built around a C and because I think that he's the best player ever in terms of skill.

I think I'll make another rule that you can only use one All-Star from this year.

Wilkins? Defense?

Wilkins was a solid defender. And Hakeem is a top 5 defense ever.

Dominique was below average defensively. And he didn't try that often. He was bailed out often by having Antoine Carr, Kevin Willis, Tree Rollins, Moses Malone, and even Jon Contract partolling the paint for him. They even drafted Stacy Augmon to be a defensive stopper and take on the best offensive wing to make up for his defensive woes.

His brother was a very good defender, though.
