17th player to do so.

He and Duncan are a rare breed: selfless and loyal, great team players.

Congrats to Dirk. mFFL

I've seen this moronic statement more than once. I think he is definitely serious

Impressive? I don't even know what that means. But from a fan's perspective, it was the most enjoyable and inspiring championship run since the Rockets in '95.

Interesting Mavs numbers:

22-13 since Feb. 1st.
3-8 in OT games.

Seems to indicate that with a healthy Dirk and a little luck, this is still a ~52 - 54 win roster. Not good enough to win the West, but one player away. Sad we never got to see them go a for a credible title defense, just like we never got to see the Bulls and Rockets play in '95 or '96.

I thought MJ's title runs were boring, for the most part. With the exception of '93 Phoenix, they never had to go against a true titan from the West, ala Lakers-Celtics in the '80's. That '93 Phoenix team was great.

The final shot against Utah will live forever, but it robbed us of Game 7.

Definitely serious. Try and argue it.

The Rockets 7 seed was low, but they were the defending champs, were healthy, and had clyde. Both the Mavs and Rockets had fun and inspiring runs.

I definitely agree that the Dallas run was fun to watch, and I'll admit that I rooted like hell for them against LA and Miami. But I'm not entirely sure how one would define "impressive", but that statement just wreaks of homerism. There have been plenty of "impressive" NBA titles since the Jordan era. Not sure how anyone can point at the Mavericks title and say that it was head and shoulders above any other

Because it was Dirk and that's it. Look at all the other NBA titles. The only one that comes close is Detroit primarily due to the fact of taking down shaq/kobe/payton/malone without any real superstars.

Tim Duncan has HOF in-their-prime players like Manu, Parker and Robinson and Poppovich. (Dont bring up 2003...Dirk and Webber both got injured and Steve Kerr had to bail out the spurs against a Dirk-less mavs).

Kobe's had Bynum, motivated Odom, Artest, Phil Jackson, Pau Gasol etc. 2011

And the Mavs were never legit favorites in any series. Teams WANTED to play Dallas.

Not to mention SWEEPING the defending champs (with the above supporting cast...the talent outside of Dirk was much superior). And taking down the lebron/wade/bosh juggernaut and effectively taking out Lebron James in crunch time. Unbelievable.

No other team has had to go through the fierce competition the Mavs did in 2011. Every spurs/lakers championship was a cakewalk in the finals against the EC team.

Caron Butler got injured...still won the damn thing.

I just feel so honored to live in the same state as that most miraculous bestest title ever.

Dirk and that's it? Did you even watch the games? Tyson Chandler owned the paint, Terry hit clutch three after clutch three, and Kidd ran the offense and got everybody set up. Hell, JJ Barea beat the Lakers by himself. Don't give me this nonsense that Dirk was surrounded by nobody's. After that title, they basically gutted their entire roster save Dirk, and they haven't even sniffed the finals since. That's not a coincidence

Somebody didn't watch the 2005 or 2010 finals.
