Asik was straight up. Shaq and Chuck blasted Ernie last night for suggesting that was a foul. The "foul" on Parsons was ridiculous though

Houston got robbed in some calls but the last play was definitely a foul on Asik. He want just standing there and going straight up. He was running to the spot and then jumped and nailed Jackson with his body

b) my frustration is with the way the game is called. An offensive player can initiate contact into a defender jumping up, or just standing flat footed (like Parsons), and rare is there an offensive foul. It seems like there should be more no-calls.

I think the offensive player barreling down the lane to draw contact is one of the ways the game has changed significantly over the past 20 years.

What a bs call. Glad swinging the ball through and hitting the defender with it is a foul.

aka the Harden special. Bulldoze into the lane, then as soon as you get to someone who can't get out of the way fast enough, flip the ball up, flail your arms out, and collapse like Mike Tyson hit you with brass knuckles. It's a no win situation for the defense. I like physical players who will use their strength to get good shots, but you can't use your strength and then go boneless as soon as you think it will get you to the free throw line. That's cheap.

The call in the OP is absolute BS. It's a player intentionally using his star power to force the ref's hand. It was a stupid turnover, but he got bailed out and I hate that. Still, Harden shot more free throws than anyone this year, and it didn't happen by accident. He flops regularly.

Harden gets a lot of crap calls, but not because he flops. There is contact in every one. He uses his quickness and speed to take advantage of defenders who would rather reach and grab instead of stay in front.

Durant gets the exact same calls. Difference is, Durant is a puzzy and doesn't like contact.. so he doesn't take advantage enough. And the crap with the swing through is pure garbage.

But until they put rules in place, this is the way it is. Hate the league.. not the guys playing within the rules to get an advantage. The league has a major problem and its where my anger is directed.

IMO there is a difference between flopping and trying to sell a call. Some of these referees are so inept that unless you do sell a call they won't give you sh**. On the other hand you have players who get star treatment and don't have to sell calls, you just breathe on them and there is a whistle. Somebody needs to grow a pair and clean up the game or it is going to continue to get worse.

Harden flops. Not CP3 worthy flops, but he does. It's not necessarily a bad thing. He's effective at getting to the FT line. Sometimes though, it seems like he's concentrated more on selling the foul than he is with finishing the shot.

By your definition, every player is a flopper.

99% of Hardens drives are fouls according to the rules. The defender isnt set and makes contact. Same with Durant. Same with Wade. Same with Lebron. Same with Rose two years ago. On and on.

And Harden does make a very good percentage of these shots to get the and 1.

But look at the last game against OKC. He didnt get hardly anything called on him in the first half.. because he wasnt trying to sell it.. or he wasnt selling it well enough. If he doesnt "flop" or try to sell the contact, then it becomes a turnover when these current rules say it shouldnt be.

Contrast once again to Durant.. who doesnt have to sell anything. He literally loses the ball before any contact is made and the refs call a foul.

Now bout the apparent "missed calls" last night..

If that was not a charge, and if Asik committed a foul, then Ibaka should have fouled out in the first quarter and the charge call should be taken out of the game completely. Lets talk about calls like the one above, the many Durant rip throughs, the Durant push offs that became fouls on Garcia when all he did was exist enough to be pushed off of, and all of the contact on EVERY SINGLE Chandler Parsons lay up.. none called.

Never in this thread did I say Harden never flops. I just said that I find it humorous that a poster who calls himself Obi Won Ginobili is calling out NBA players for flopping. And you personally attack me by calling me a dumbass when I point out the irony.

Using the same logic in this thread, Ginobili was clearly only trying to sell the foul that Hardin was comitting as 99% of the time he touches the ball he is fouled, the refs just don't call it.
